In Camas, Washington, the dog owner’s boyfriend is alleged to have repeatedly kicked the woman’s miniature dachshund before tossing the defenseless pooch across the room.
According to KatuNews, Dustin R. Hadley, 20, had beaten the dog on Thursday with the owner of the dog, Danielle Johnson, witnessing the abuse. Hadley stated the dog’s barking had kept him awake. The dog owner’s sister called police to report the abuse. Hadley told police he suffers from bipolar disorder and when he is off his medication has anger issues.
It is not known why the owner didn’t take her dog to the veterinarian for six hours. The dog had been bleeding from his rectum and suffered internal injuries. His prognosis is unknown at this time. Johnson retains custody of the dog.
Hadley was taken to the Clark County Jail on charges of first-degree animal cruelty and malicious mischief. He has since been granted supervised release and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. Hadley also broke his girlfriend’s cellphone by throwing it against the wall and breaking the screen.
