Bonded pair ‘freaked out’ when shelter tried to separate them

Bonded “Scooby and Blackie” freaked out when the shelter staff at San Bernardino City Animal Shelter tried to separate them. Sadly, on May 29, their owner surrendered them with one of the most discouraging and overused excuses:

“We’re moving and can’t take them with us.”

And so six-year-old Scooby and his ten-year-old best friend Blackie have been dismissed and are in need of a loving and committed home where they no longer have to worry about being separated ever again.

PetHarbor adoption listing for Blackie:

“My name is Blackie and I am an unaltered male, black and white Terrier mix. Shelter staff think I am about 10 years old. I have been at the shelter since May 29, 2018. For more information about the adoption process, click here: Animal Control. Note that the last adoption will start at 4:30 pm. For more information about this animal, call San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 384-1304. Ask for information about animal ID number A514540.

  1. This such bullshit!!! These owners who keep surrendering their pets need to be put on a watch list so they can’t go and adopt another baby Just to sump it again. Poor babies.

  2. This excuse of ‘moving’ is beyond pitiful – it is no more than a fake reason to dump animals. I have moved more than once and my cats always come with me – these kind of so called ‘humans’ are the ones who think of animals as disposable objects – PLEASE keep Scooby & Blackie together – they need each other – they were dumped by uncaring owners – but they care about each other and definitely need to be adopted by some caring people who will want both of them.

  3. I hope a ” Caring Rescue” will help these two bonded and dedicated gentlemen find a way out prior to being other victim of the ‘euthanasia” ASAP Policy most of these California “Shelter’s ” call themselves.. The volunteers being dedicated are the only good thing in many of them!!

  4. I agree. There must be a universal list of those who dump their animals in shelters across the country (whether it be a cat or dog) and should never be allowed to own any type of animal again. If they do, they must be arrested and thrown in jail for several months for having an animal when they aren’t suppose to have on.

    • There is a list but rarely check before adopting a precious furbaby to ppl.
In short is referred to as the DNA LIST. The Do NOT Adopt List!! I network FURBABIES from DEATH ROW. And a fellow networking lady I do the same places,,, she added my only daughter, my only child to it with my blessing????
I offered to take her 8 yr old female white Husky/Wolf(?) & a part lab huge loveable 1+ yr old boy , a puppy, lol. I was moving to Texas & would be adopting one or two FURBABIES. And I loved her two, all she did was bitch & threaten to haul them off!! ugh. I had to chihuahuas already . Well 8 months later she called demanding that I come now and get 8yr,,, was pretty sure I saw pup in San Antonio Kill Shelter I was too late to save COPPER???? she no way he had just run away that day,,, whatever???? The senior girl all I could do was
have her rescued & I DID!! I had gotten Anni already a gentle giant white boxer????????
But keep Princess because she didn’t like females at all. The day she was rescued we saw my daughter on San Antonio Kill Shelter offering to tiny sickly little furbaby. That day was the 1st I heard of the DNA LIST & ADDED MY DAUGHTER. Maybe link to it from facebook.
