Bonded pair deserted at 14-years-old in desperate need of help

When their family moved, Oscar and Boba were deserted and sent to Carson Animal Care in California. The 14-year-old bonded dogs had never been away from their home or their family. And if life couldn’t throw any more lemons at these two sweet dogs, the shelter separated them – each in a different building. Neither one knows where the other dog is – neither one can be comforted by each other.

“#A5219560 My name is OSCAR and I’m an approximately 14 year old male Dachshund. I am not yet neutered. I have been at the Carson Animal Care Center since 9/16. I will be available on 9/16. You can visit me at my temporary home at C230. My former family who owned me for had to give me up because they were moving.”

  1. At lease have the heart to put these dogs together especially when one is so small and they would at least have some comfort. What do shelters think when dogs are brought in together and are bonded like this. Promote them together so they can both go to the same family.

  2. Please shelter Oscar & Boba together!!! They’ve already been abandoned by their humans; they each need to know that their best friend isn’t gone forever, too! And please tell prospective adopters about their bond!!

  3. Why are people calling these places “shelters”? Don’t you know that’s a strategy the politicians and department heads came up with, for P.R. purposes? Before they did that, these impound facilities were called “pounds,” and until they look and act like real “shelters,” I will continue calling them pounds.

  4. only a monster of the worse kind treats an animal this way, my God they are. horrible, horrible, people. I hope something very, very , bad and painful happens to them, and to everyone who lives behind any animal.

  5. It’s beyond cruel to separate two bonded 14 year old dogs who’ve already been separated from the home and family they’ve always known and put in a chaotic environment like a shelter. For God’s sake have a heart and some compassion for these two lovely old souls.

  6. My Thoughts and Prayers are that Oscar and Bobo will be pulled out by a great rescue who will care for them and find them a furever home together. People have been shoving their old folks away in nursing homes, so no surprise this family did this with these two beautiful older dogs, especially seeing they did not even take good care of them either. Shame shame shame, the poor dogs’ only fault was loving you morons unconditionally for 14+ years too many. Hopefully, your reward for what you’ve done to them will be a match for what they have right now – a concrete floor and a water bowl if they’re lucky. Hang in there Oscar and Bobo, we will all work to get you out together so you can spend your golden years together in a wonderful home where you’ll be loved and cared for always.
