Sarabe and Jasmine are best buddies and surely never expected to leave the only family they ever knew. Tragically over the weekend, the bonded pair were surrendered to the East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys, California. And why were they dumped? According to a shelter volunteer, the story for these two seniors – aged 10 and 12 is heartbreaking.

“My hands are shaking as I bring to your attention best buddies 12-year-old Jasmine (A1751690) and ten-year-old Sarabe (A1751691). Both rather neglected-looking dogs were dumped yesterday at the East Valley shelter because they are old and the couple wanted a younger dog,” Sherry described.

Of course, that was sad, but the story isn’t over. The follow-up news is perhaps even more worrisome.

“Sure enough,” Sherry continues. “… the inhumane couple showed up this a.m. and bid on and won a puppy that they didn’t even meet. And, get this, – they named the puppy Jasmine. What a pity for the puppy.”

Help these two little ones find a caring and loving home – preferably together because they are indeed bonded. Sharing saves lives.

  1. WHAT!!! how can people do that??????
what kind of heartless people are they?
Why were they allowed a puppy, when their own dogs weren’t taken care of and were easily thrown away????????????

  2. The shelter should have somehow prevented these scums from adopting a younger dog/pup. They know that they will dump that new pup once it reaches the age of the other two they turned into the shelter. Those people should be on a list of owners that should never be allowed to own a pet ever again for whatever reason that is justified.

    • Absolutely! What respectable and caring shelter would even allow this to happen? These people should have been thrown out immediately. Seems this so called ‘shelter’ is more interested in taking in $$ from people who have proven themselves to be lousy pet owners than protecting a dog from those who have proven themselves incompetent and irresponsible. Shame on East Valley – it is a piss poor example of a shelter.

  3. This disgusts me why were they able to get a puppy after dumping thsee 2 precious souls how mean can people be they are just going to dump the new puppy when it gets old this really makes me mad

  4. Their new puppy should be confiscated because the ones they turned in are in horrible condition which could be classified as abuse! A national registry would help but I doubt that word would get around that fast if they went out the next day and got a puppy. And they BID ON a puppy???? They are not a couch!!!

    • I agree that they should have been arrested for felony animal abuse and banned from ever having contact with all animals for the rest of their lives!

  5. Absolutely heartbreaking and disgusting. WTF is wrong with these POS’s??? And WHY were they allowed to adopt a puppy???

I would have gladly given everything I owned to have had more time with my precious little treasure MacKitty (who passed away @ 14.5 years from liver cancer)……. & these POS’s dump their senior treasures……..

I hope these treasures can be adopted and spend the rest of their lives in a furever home where they will be treated as beloved family members…..

It’s horrible to think of these treasures dying alone, afraid and, worst of all, unloved, in a shelter……

I wish the absolute worst lives for their former POS owners and hope they burn in Hell forever for their cruelty (after dying alone and afraid)……

  6. That’s BS!! The shelter should have never allowed them to adopt another puppy as their actions show this one will be dumped when she’s old as well. Disgusting on the owners part & the shelters!!! SMFH????????????

  7. Someone, PLEASE tell me why these inhumane ASSHOLES were allowed to adopt a puppy from the same place?!?!?
They couldn’t and didn’t even care enough about their 2 poor senior girls to groom them, let alone be there for them in their twilight years. That was not a good reason to dump these 2 girls.
What’s going to happen when the puppy has to be trained & may make in the house?!?!?
They should not be allowed to have another pet. Put them in a database & share to all shelters and organizations not to allow these assholes to adopt a pet!
I pray for this poor puppy and these 2 senior babies. Will share them in the hopes they find real, loving, humane and caring owners.

  8. I truly hope their kids DUMP them when they get too old and remind them that that’s what they did to their dogs. I hope KARMA bites real hard.

  9. Too bad there isn’t a rule that if you dump a senior dog, you are not allowed to adopt another dog for at least a year. Preferably five years for dumping more than one. And naming the unseen puppy the same name as one of the dogs they just dumped, they are coldhearted. I hope they don’t have kids.

    Sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

  10. What’s sad about this is that these POS’s were allowed to “bid”? on a new puppy after they dumped their neglected elderly dogs! Why was this? This story is appalling and it’s practices like this by the shelter that leads to stories like this! Shame on all concerned!
In 10 to 12 years when this puppy is dumped again, it’s on the shelter for allowing them to adopt another dog when they have displayed they are uncaring, disgusting humans!

  11. Disgusting! Why were they allowed to get a puppy after surrendering their two senior dogs? You know after more or less within 10 years this poor puppy will be sitting in some kill shelter. If an owner surrenders a senior dog because it’s “old”, that person should not be able to adopt a young dog/puppy.

  12. How do you get a law passed if you do not take care of your animals until death everyone needs to be banned from getting another animal. What the fuck is wrong with you people so unethical.

  13. Whoever let them get another puppy is as much to blame as the people that got rid of the older dogs. Should never be allowed to have pets. What the hell is wrong with people?
