For three very long years, a dog named Barley has been sitting in a New York animal shelter. Barley was picked up as a stray in February 2015 – fast forward to today, he remains alone in a kennel, forgotten and seemingly invisible inside of the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.
In early March, the Facebook page set up to help find Barley a home posted a bit of information about the homeless pup:
Barley is a gorgeous boy who is looking for love, he has found himself homeless at the animal shelter. He was picked up stray by a Good Samaritan and no one has come in to take him home. All he wants is to be loved❤… will you be his hero.
Barley is being treated for Anaplasmosis, he is well on his way to recovery and will be better in no time. He is 60 pounds, n5-7years young, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative.
Barley would do best as one and only furbaby …older children.
Three years is an impossibly long time to a dog who loves people – a dog who wants to love and be loved – a dog who wants a home of his own. Please help Barley find that home by taking a moment to network his adoption information.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”
Please adopt or foster Barley. He is a gentle dog who loves humans. He will give back more love than you could ever give him.
I want him, but I’m in Georgia, does anyone tranport
Ask the shelter about transport or Google “dog transport companies”…Hope he goes home to you????
I want him, but I’m in Georgia, does anyone transport. I don’t know what else to say
There is a transport called “Freedom Train Animal Rescue Transports” which is all volunteer and will transport animals to safe locations – they can be reached on the internet at [email protected] – if you are serious about adopting Barley and willing to give him his forever home, please contact them.
SAVE HIM!!!
Please someone help him he’s beautiful
Please someone save Barley he is beautiful but so sad. ❤️❤️????????????????

Being kept safe for three years says something very positive about Brookhaven Animal Shelter – they are committed to ensuring animals find homes, not murdering them like some so called ‘shelters’ who give animals no chance. I applaud this shelter, that is what a shelter is supposed to do.
Has he been adopted!?
