At nine years of age, a senior dog was surrendered by his family to a busy California animal control agency. He has been dubbed King and he could use the help of strangers right now to ensure that he makes it out of the facility alive.

Why was this senior dog surrendered?

Why was King surrendered? Did his family move? Did they decide that he was too expensive? Were they suddenly too busy for him? Did his owner die? There are no answers readily available…all that is known is that King needs to be rescued or adopted from the animal control agency; surrendered dogs are not afforded the safety of a mandatory stray hold.

What can you do?

King is being held at the Riverside County Animal Control – Riverside Shelter. Networking is known to save lives because it increases the visibility of dogs who are locked away in a kennel run. What is networking? Simple stated – it is sharing adoption information on social media. Please take a moment to share King’s adoption information on your Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest accounts.

  1. This dog still has many good years left and deserves a home with a family who will love and care for him to the very end of his life. Having a dog or any animal can be costly, but when you adopt a pup, you have gotten a family member, not something you can toss out whenever you want. Hope there are potential adopters who will look at this dog and see a future with this beautiful dog.

  2.
My husband and I adopt old and special needs animals (so sadly, we lose them far too soon, although truthfully, one is NEVER prepared to say goodbye to a loved one {human or furbaby})….. I would give anything to be with our precious furbabies who are in Heaven……..
To us, seniors are precious treasures & we do everything to help them have a wonderful life with us…..

These POS’s who dumped their 9 year old furbaby deserve lots of pain and suffering in their lives!!! Hopefully they will end up dumped in a terrible situation when they are old and unable to care for themselves…….

    • Exactly the way we feel. Thank you. That dog reminds me of the one our best friend saved years ago. Orion was her soulmate. Please someone ..bring this baby home.

    • Bless you for adopting the dogs most people overlook at shelters.
Two of the three Yellow Labs I’ve adopted were seniors at the time I got them. I joke that I bleed senior Yellow Labs. This guy is breaking my heart…I currently have 2 seniors with significant health problems and I’m at my physical and financial limit. I hope someone in California sees the greatness in King being an older fellow.

    • I so agree we have a senior dog, along with teenage dog we just got our 3rd rescue we think he’s around 3-4 the shelter just got him the day before, and our next dog going to be a senior.

  3. Being nine years old makes King an excellent candidate for adoption – a dog that has settled down, would be delighted to sit on the couch with you, take walks, and just being in your presence – don’t know why he was surrendered – but it is the lousy previous owner’s loss – too many humans who selfishly only consider themselves. King is an excellent candidate for adoption – PLEASE step up and give him the safe loving home he so well deserves.

  4. He would Be A Wonderful Companion Pet for a Senior Citizen Facility…. elders love to hug and pet on a gentle ( seems like they enjoy this type of breed better) and I just bet KING would let them love on him as long as they wanted!!!! Knowing how this So Called Kill first ask questions later Riverside operated this poor Gentleman will not get a chance to show another the Love and Compassion he has in his NOW BROKEN HEART!!!
