For five years Dakota lived with her family, and for sure this very sensitive dog believed she was loved. When she began to have accidents in the house, everything changed. According to the shelter, Dakota had developed seasonal allergies after the family moved to Maryland and was prescribed allergy medications including prednisone – a steroid treatment commonly accompanied by increased thirst and urination.
“Both the trainer and the vet said this was not her fault. They said that this was the owner’s fault and they attempted to dump her in a shelter in Maryland.”
The family had been informed by the veterinarian the dog would need to be walked more often, but instead of trying to adjust to the dog’s more frequent bathroom needs, the family took her to a second veterinarian where they never mentioned the allergies or the medication the dog had been prescribed. Instead they asked the dog be placed on Prozac.
Fortunately for Dakota, the Maryland shelter contacted the original rescue, Paws Unite People – that is after Dakota’s family stated they no longer had time for their dog.
“She is BOMB PROOF with CHILDREN! They would dress her up, snuggle with her , and she has been ripped away from them now. She is a gentle giant who is now SHAKING, CRYING, URINATING, and DEFECATING on herself at the rescue’s facility . She is DISORIENTED, doesn’t understand why her humans have left her , and is BREAKING DOWN EMOTIONALLY !,” Paws Unite People wrote on their Facebook page.
“She needs to be the only dog in the home ever since she was attacked by three other dogs in the shelter several years ago. She is a couch potato love bug who wants to kiss you, snuggle with you, and be a part of your family!”

Those owners should be on a growing list of so called dog parents who dump their animals and never be allowed to own or be responsible for another living creature. Pray that this wonderful dog gets into a home that will appreciate her and deal with her issues. There are so many things they could have done to accommodate her going to the bathroom more often but they didn’t even want to consider that or even ask. Hope their kids do the same to them when they are incapacitated.

I really wish there was a way to WEED OUT MONSTERS so they would not be allowed to own a pet. If you get a pet….and feel there is any reason in the world that is a “good excuse” to dump, abuse, surrender your pet…… YOU DO NOT NEED ONE!!!!!! They are family. Once you get them, they are yours until their last breath!
Golly ::: WHAT would the OUTCOME for EITHER SPOUSE have if One Became Diabetic, Cancer, premature Dementia!!! The unscathed Spouse would probably “Lace” their potato salad with “ARSENIC’ over a short period of time to be rid of the burden. If their children acquire a chronic illness, GOD HELP THEM ! they may have an accident (unexplained of course) that will take care of the problem “forever”.. IT is EVIDENT by the extreme this wonderful little Girl Loved HER FAMILY with Her HEART and SOUL!!! What narcissistic Bastard’s they are… I Really hope someone will come forward and Give this girl a safe and comfortable home… also different medications that work in a fashion that won’t cause urinary problems…

Those owners are asshole and should be punished for the abuse to this poor baby.
If only people knew – The medical mafia complex with their poison vaccines, poison flea and tick “medicines” and connections with the poison food companies, are causing the allergies, the autoimmune diseases, the cancers, etc., even behavioral changes, in the first place. Then they prescribe more and different kinds of poisons to mask the symptoms of the first poisons, but those have “side effects ” of their own.
That’s not to excuse the bad behavior of the owners in the first place, but the whole thing stinks.
I don’t want to even get into it about the owners except they are heartless and cruel and I agree they should never be allowed to own another dog and people like this should have their names posted so they cannot get another dog to dump when they get sick I really hope they end up getting dumped because they are sick I pray this turns around on them that poor dog is so scared I pray this dog finds another loving home and is not put down
Sounds like she needs outta Maryland to fix the allergies. A stable home will fix the rest. God bless this sweet girl with another chance.
I am so furious at this people so call humans. How in world could they do this to Dakota! Poor baby. These people obviously have no heart or soul. I prayed that they dont face the same thing when one of them get old. I am asking our dear lord to pleas send Dakota a miracle to help place her in a good loving home.

We are still looking for a no pet home for her. Many people have offered, but have pets.
We appreciate all the help with this.
I am heartbroken for her.
