An Arkansas shelter was been targeted again on Saturday night. Just a week ago, someone had broken into the Humane Society of the Delta and started a vicious dog fight after releasing eight dogs from their kennels. Five dogs were injured; none as severely as in the prior break in.

Luckily one of the workers had returned to the shelter to check on some injured puppies and was able to secure the dogs before any serious injuries occurred. The police have been notified and a report has been made.

“Since the attack last week we have had a half-dozen contractors come out and action plans have been made and work has been started but this is a huge undertaking. Things aren’t nearly finished. Our property had three buildings and another outside pavilion is on 5 acres of land. Securing this property is in the works but we need a few weeks to get things where we want them,” the organization posted on their social media page.

It is unknown who broke into the Arkansas shelter to purposely start a vicious dog fight. Shelter workers arrived that Wednesday morning to a “blood bath. It has been theorized the thugs who broke in may have brought their own “fighting dogs” to use the shelter dogs as bait.

One dog in particular took the brunt of the fighting violence last week; 10-year-old Rubio was left with life-threatening injuries. He has since been recovering and is expected to make a full recovery.

“And this message is to the people who did this. Once again, you knocked us down and took the wind out of us for a bit, but we are already back on our feet, and doing what the animals need us to do. We will pray for you because you obviously have no soul.”

As of this time, the shelter continues to ask for donations. Immediate needs are powerful flashlights for the patrols who are guarding the dogs at night. There is also a need for more heaters since volunteers are sleeping at the shelter until all security measures are in place to keep the animals safe.

In addition, checks can be made out to the Humane Society of the Delta, P.O. Box 3218, West Helena, AR 72390.

  1. This is an orchestrated attack on shelters and Humane Societies. When the culprits are caught, they need to be prosecuted – for having the animals get injured, for breaking and entering AND inciting violence. And if they not prosecuted then I have nothing to fucking say about the Arkansas laws or I will be censored.

  2. Although this is only a shelter, the Governor of this state needs to take action to protect this facility from any further attacks and actively pursue those vile monsters that did this again. This is a small shelter with limited resources and the state needs to help out now, not wait till all the dogs are killed.I realize that they usually don’t get involved in these matters, but this is different. This place has been targeted by monsters and needs drastic help now to prevent any further injuries to these animals. May have to have police there 27/7 to prevent any further cretins from causing this to happen again. Glad there were no serious injuries but this must end now. No more animals attacked or used for fighting at this shelter.

  3. Sounds like an outright Dog Fighting Ring to me. I hope they’re all caught and get to serve time in jail…a long time!!!

  4. This has got to stop where are the police? Feel so sorry for these dogs I know you are all doing what you can God bless all of you and to the police find these thugs that’s your job Donated hope it helps people who read this post please consider donating every little bit helps them and the dogs

  5. And they call themselves a “shelter”? This is just one of many reasons which proves that it (along with most others) is NOT a shelter.

How about shaving some bucks from the over-inflated salaries of the top department heads, and hire people to guard and tend the facility at night? Armed, if necessary, because unfortunately, these days it’s called for.

  6. I know the “shelter” has claimed they have guards (who need stronger flashlights- really?!!), so WHERE EXACTLY WERE THEY? When dogs are being attacked, and they scream, it’s a sound that carries. There must have been one heck of a lot of noise coming from that area.

I think they’re lying, or the “guards” were at Denny’s having coffee and danish
