A shocking discovery was made at a home in Benton County, Iowa, this week. According to the Des Moines Register, approximately 1,000 animals, dead and alive, were found on Tuesday at a residence located at 607 W. 6th Street in Vinton.
Local authorities, acting on a search warrant, found a menagerie of animals, including: hedgehogs, rats, mice, rabbits, chinchillas, turtles, fish, birds, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs and a snake. The Cedar Valley Humane Society, which participated in the rescue effort, alerted Facebook followers to the dismal conditions at the house:
The situation is just terrible. The smell... the empty or dirty food and water bowls… dead animals in cages with living ones. Rotting food. Animals with “DIY surgery” in progress. Hundreds (potentially thousands by the time everything is counted) of animals in a small, enclosed space.
Many of the surviving animals were found to be dehydrated and malnourished. The Cedar Valley Humane Society is desperate for supplies to help care for the animals which were seized. On Wednesday, the animal shelter listed the items most in need:
Monetary donations
Critter cages
Water bottles for animal cages
Food bowls that clip onto small cages
HE laundry detergent
Bird food
Paper animal bedding
Small mammal nail trimmers
Homeowner Babs Galkowski, who believes that her animals have been wrongfully seized, has explained that the dead/frozen animals at the home were merely food for other animals, reported Radio Iowa. Galkowski is reported to also run the Rocket Ministries horse rescue – the animal shelter is investigating the condition of the horses who are with the rescue.

What the hell and we can’t save them all, in GOD’S hands….!
I could shoot this depraved degenerate with a tommy gun a thousand times and feel not one ounce of remorse.
You and me both – I would thoroughly enjoy giving this maggot the true punishment they deserve – a long slow and painful death. They deserve no less.
Babs said the dead/dying animals in cages with live ones were food for the others? Does she really believe what she is saying ? She also has a horse rescue and wonder the condition of that place. I guess her intentions started off decent, but how do you let things get so out of hand without asking for help or giving the animals up to shelters? So many animals and where do you start? God bless those that are there trying to assess these animals and their conditions.
oh my gosh!! how sick and she sees nothing wrong with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

This is located about 25 miles from the city where I live….heard about it on the news last night. Disgusting.
This is one sick, monster…… lock her up and NEVER LET HER TOUCH another animal for the rest of her miserable life.
