Another dog has perished in the bitter cold – another careless dog owner is now facing charges. According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the dog warden with the sheriff’s office responded to a call concerning the welfare of a dog in St. Clair Township.

The dog in question was found deceased in an outdoor dog house which had no insulation – the dog was unable to survive the frigid temperature. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the dog’s owners are facing a charge for cruelty to a companion animal.

The Sheriff’s Office reminded others to take care to ensure that their own pets, and those of neighbors, are safe. The department stated:

“Please do not leave your pets outside in the cold. If you suspect someone is mistreating a pet or has left them out in the cold, call the Butler County Sheriff’s Dog Warden at (513) 785-1300 or text “COPS” to 274637 and you will remain anonymous. Mistreatment of animals is NEVER acceptable.”

Dogs dying from being left outside in the winter cold is currently rampant – in Connecticut, a dog kept chained outside of a home in Hartford was found frozen to death on New Year’s day, and a woman in South Carolina is facing charges after a frozen puppy was found in a cage outside of her home in Aiken.

Fur is not enough to ensure that a dog is safe from the cold – if you are cold, they are cold. Bring pets inside.

  1. There are so many irresponsible and ignorant people. They should have to do community service learning to care for dogs……
These people know nothing about caring for a dog properly. Why do they have them?

  2. We really need to start putting a rope around these fucking people‘s neck tie them outside in the freezing cold and let them fucking die

    • I agree Theresa. Eye for an eye justice for animal abusers. They have to feel the pain exactly like the poor innocent animal felt. Nothing less. RIP sweet pup

  3. Something drastic needs to happen to people. HUGE fine, or locked up…something that will make them think before ignoring their poor freezing animals!

  4. THIS SHIT REALLY INFURIATES ME TO LEAVE AN ANIMAL OUTSIDE IN THE FREEZING COLD. ALL THESE BASTARDS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT IN THE FREEZING WEATHER WHEN THEY WERE AN INFANT AND NAKED THEN THEY WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN ON THIS DAMN EARTH. LOW LIFE SCUM OF THE EARTH COWARDS IS THE DEFINITION OF ANIMAL ABUSERS. I JUST WANT TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM. USELESS SUBHUMANS. HOPE THEY HAVE NO LUCK AND ROT WITH CANCER.

  5. New mandatory law should be .. IF YOU LEAVE YOUR PET OUTSIDE TO FREEZE TO DEATH YOUR HEAT WILL BE TURNED OFF IN YOUR HOME OR JAIL CELL

  6. Leave these owners outside in the same condition they let the dog in the unheated/non-insulated dog house. IF they survive, they make and outdoor jail for people like this. They should be made an example to all stupid, uncaring, ignorant things.

  7. I have to wonder whoever called..could they not have called much earlier to have save the dog?! POS’s! I don’t understand why some dog owners keep them outside. Why have them as pets/family members!

  8. ANYONE with an ounce of brains KNOW leaving an animal outside in freezing weather is dangerous – this is not lack of knowledge, it is uncaring, plain and simple. These people are cruel and just don’t give a crap about the animals welfare at all. They ALL deserve to be charged with FELONY animal cruelty. These acts a deliberate and need to be treated as such. Their names should be printed and posted in every shelter and rescue so they never can get another animal to mistreat.

  9. There isn’t any more excuse for this than leaving your dog in a hot car. Are people really this ignorant or do they simply “JUST NOT CARE”! I agree with Marni above, “why do they have them”?
