An 11-month-old black miniature schnauzer has been returned to his rightful owner after Amazon’s CEO and founder Jeff Bezos became involved in the in the dog’s theft and safe rescue.

According to Richard Guttfield’s Facebook page, he realized his puppy Wilma was missing just moments after the delivery person dropped off a package of dog food that had been ordered online.

“My puppy went missing after an Amazon delivery and after an email to Jeff (Bezos) …we had someone who was amazing who tracked the driver and found our dog and brought her home,” Guttfield stated.

Guttfield said he emailed Bezos directly after he was so frustrated with the lack of service and urgency to find his precious little pet. He relentlessly contacted Amazon’s customer service for help, and there had been no investigation launched until he reached out for Bezos. One day later, Amazon checked the GPS log of the van which allegedly showed that before the next delivery the driver had returned home where the puppy was found. Bezos is known for reading customer emails and forwarding them onto the relevant departments – keeping his fingers on the pulse of his business.

The delivery driver worked for an unnamed Amazon logistics supplier, and the motive for the theft is under police investigation.

“This is inexcusable and does not reflect the high standards we have for our delivery partners,” a spokesperson for Amazon stated. “We take these matters seriously and this individual is not longer delivering Amazon packages for the independent delivery service provider.”

As for Wilma, the adorable pooch is back home and doing fine.

  1. That is the way all CEO’s should respond to customer emails, especially in this case a stolen puppy by one of his drivers.Just shows what we all say, can’t leave your pup outside for a moment without you watching him. Such a cute little dog but that doesn’t give this drive the right to just snatch the pup. Go get your own instead of stealing. Guess he won’t do that again-lost job, probably has a potential criminal record now, and for what? Didn’t he think the owner would notice his dog missing.

  2. WOW, Thank you, Amazon’s CEO and founder Jeff Bezos, you are a true humanitarian. I can’t imagine too many CEOs would go above and beyond like this! I’m so glad Mr Guttfield got his precious puppy back. I hope they throw the book at the driver that stole puppy Wilma, it’s inexcusable!

  3. Hmmmm! That driver should’ve known better and now no job!! Will he be hired by others when he goes job hunting???? Not good to be so darned ignorant!!!

  4. It’s possible that the driver thought the dog was lost and took her home to find the owner…..

A construction worker did this in our neighborhood and when he found out that the dog he took home belonged to my neighbor, he returned him……

  5. If Amazon takes these things seriously as the spokesperson said, then why was Guttfield’s pleas for help go unheard when he called customer service. The only one who really cared was Bezos. So please don’t tell us you care.

  6. Damn good job of the amazon CEO. Now he can fire the bastard driver and have the guy arrested for theft.

  7. And we’re supposed to trust their new service – to deliver packages to the trunk of your vehicle in your absence???

I think NOT – at least, for me!

SO grateful this little guy was recovered and returned unharmed to his loving family!

  8. HUGE THANK YOU to Mr. Bezos for his excellent response – this is a CEO Amazon should be proud of – he stepped up immediately to ensure this little dog was found and returned to his proper owner. This delivery driver should be arrested and prosecuted – and hopefully, no longer has a job. Mr. Bezos is a real hero for his quick and decisive actions. He saved the life of this little dog.

  9. Much respect and thanks to Mr. Bezos. You have renewed my faith in GOOD HUMANS being out there. Will continue to shop at Amazon. Thanks for the good leadership of your company.
