An ailing senior dog is doing her utmost to get through the days alone at a busy California animal shelter after her family gave her up. According to the volunteer-run Facebook page, Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, eight-year-old Ginger was surrendered on March 31 because her former owners could not afford her anymore.

Ginger has a variety of maladies including a bilateral ear infection, dry eye, small mass on one of her eyes, matted fur and a possible problem with her spine (she walks slowly and may have urinary incontinence issues). Ginger is all alone in the world – and nobody has expressed interest in saving her from her current situation.

With no family of her own, Ginger now relies upon the kindness of strangers who will share her plight, and help her leave the Carson Animal Services facility.

  1. Poor baby! She looks so depressed. Hopefully, someone will adopt her, or a rescue will step up and save her. If there was anyway that I could, I would.

  2. Totally heartbreaking situation. I would love her, but I am in Northern California and have no way to get her here…… we have a whole network of veterinarians eho could help this little treasure…..

      • If you are serious about taking this poor neglected dog there is an organization that is all volunteer that transports animals to safe locations – it is Freedom Train Animal Rescue Transports and an be reached via email at “[email protected] – Please contact them to see if they can help – this little dog needs out before Carson kills her.

    • Hey you should contact your vets and ask if they can do anything to help!! I am Canada and want to help!! I will donate tell me how pet rescue!!

  3. With the medical issues this little dog has it looks like this so called ‘family’ never bothered to give her any medical attention – and now they are dumping her because they can’t be bothered. She deserves much better than to be treated like a disposable object and being in Carson she will get nothing more than a death sentence. That is pathetic – not only did her family treat her so poorly, Carson will do the same. GET HER OUT – SHE DESERVES A LIFE.

  4. This p*sses me off to no end. That’s not what you do to FAMILY. This poor dog has loved you all of her life and this is how you treat her??? I currently have a Yellow Lab, almost 15 years old, with numerous health ailments. Caring for her is exhausting but it’s what you do when you have a dog – you care for her for her ENTIRE life. I pray this baby can be saved by a senior dog rescue in California. As for the family, they can all go to Hell – the sooner the better.

  5. Wow!! This totally breaks my heart!! Ginger is so beautiful an she seems confused!! I hope someone will come forward an take Ginger by either adopting or fostering her! Poor thing she has lost her family! Ginger, u will b in my prayers!!

  6. I find it hard to believe that this family could no longer care for her, judging by her condition I don’t think they ever did anything to help her. or take care of her. I really believe if they truly care they could have ask for help? I pray that some kind heart soul or rescue will be able to help her. Sending prayers for her life.
