After nearly two years in a California animal shelter, a volunteer-favorite dog is on “red alert.” Red alert is every bit as dire as it sounds…recently, volunteers tried to help save Bobby, another dog who was sheltered for nearly two years, but he was put down for space (without warning to shelter volunteers), leaving those who fought to save him in shock.

The dog who needs help right now

The current red-listed dog is Little Blue. Volunteers write:

To know Little Blue is to fall head over heels for him. This adorable, goofy, people pleaser is absolutely adored by volunteers, who are heart broken that this smiley hippo has been trapped in the shelter system for TWO YEARS.

This happy-go-lucky tailwagger came to us after being at West Valley, where he was incredibly beloved by volunteers and staff. Blue is 4 years old, 69 lbs, attentive, highly trainable, and absolutely irresistible when he asks for belly rubs.

Of special note

He is Rescue Only (outside of LA), due to the fact that he came in as part of a court case involving another animal (July 8, 2016 — nearly TWO years ago!). Blue is truly a special dog who deserves so much better than this. Please, please share for rescue and step up to foster through a rescue!

Helping this red-alert dog

Time is of the essence for this homeless dog – please take a moment to network this article with the hope that it will reach a rescue agency which can help.

  1. Please adopt or foster Little Blue. Look at all the wonderful qualities the volunteers have said about him. Go there to see for yourself and give him your attention. I am certain you will fall in love with him. See how he reacts with you and go from there.

      • There is an animal transport service called ‘Freedom Train Animal Rescue Transports’ that will transport animals to safe locations – it is all volunteer and can be contacted at [email protected] – If you can, please help Little Blue – you will never regret it – Thank you.
