After eight very long years, a long-time shelter resident was able to spend Christmas in a new home. Her name is Roxy and thanks to groomer Leanne Wenban, the staffie celebrated the holiday outside of a kennel.
As reported by Fox News, Roxy was slow to warm up to her new family…and her home. But she is a smart girl and has figured out that her new digs aren’t too shabby. Gone is a noisy kennel run – now she has her own bedroom, complete with toys and treats. Her owner told the news agency:
“She loves to be tucked up into her blanket. She also has her own bedroom which is like a small child’s bed. Before she was so used to all the noise from the kennels which was fine and what she is or was used to but now I think that she is catching up on the peace and quiet.”
Staff at the Teckels dog shelter did their utmost to keep the clever dog happy and entertained, and her new family is doing the same. Her owner explained:
“We have bought her lots of games. Board games for dogs, a snuffle mat, she is very clever. “She works them out in minutes and we have to mix the games up each day as she remembers and figures out where the treats are.”
Congratulations Roxy – you’re living the doggy dream.
