Abandoned roadside: Did someone burn poor Puzzle?

Early Wednesday evening, an animal advocate stopped her truck when she spotted “Puzzle,” an abandoned dog with horrific injuries. On Old Port Barre Road, the undernourished dog that may have been torched, burned with an acid chemical or had hot grease poured on his back, jumped right into her vehicle. At that very moment he spotted Kimberly Ortego, Puzzle just  knew he was safe.

“This poor dog was on old Port barre rd. I opened the door and he jumped in. Ppl are so disgusting,” Kimberly wrote on her Facebook page.

St. Landry Parish Animal Control & Rescue located in Opelousas, Louisiana is helping Puzzle. He has been transferred to the Bellevue Animal Clinic where he is receiving emergency treatment, and a long term plan for his future care is being formulated. All Puzzle wants is to be cared for and loved.

“How could the person who owned this dog sleep at night? What kind of monster would do this? I feel equal parts heart break and rage,” are just a few of the comments on St. Landry Parish Animal Control and Rescue’s Facebook page.

Immediate donations are needed. Call his vet team at 337-942-7126, or PayPal to Stacey.alleman@stlandryparish.org
Thank you all. S.A.M.
