It’s welcome news in Oakland, California where three adorable puppies found in an Oakland trash pile are now thriving according to the Bay Area animal rescue that has been caring for the two sibling German shepherds.

According to Rocket Dog Rescue‘s Facebook page, Wednesday’s update brought smiles to everyone reading the good news and peeking at the video showing the two puppies playfully teasing each other. The sisters, now named Freya and Frigg continue to eat, play and kiss each other in the most adorable fashion.

The rescue organization decided it was important to place the two puppies together. Freya now looks like a new pup. They are both being cared for at Ocean Avenue Veterinary Hospital.

“We felt that it was important now for the sisters to be able to see each other for emotional support and well being. The sisters got to visit last night and again today. You can hear Freya, who, whining with excitement, is so excited that her sister is with her. The minute they saw each other, they jumped towards each other wagging their tales and frantically kissing each other’s faces… even with her little broken jaw, Freya was covering Frigg with kisses. They then shared breakfast, which they wolfed down. That was really amazing to see because the vet had been concerned because Freya had not been interested in eating. Frigg was doing everything she could to nurture her sister- cleaning her face, her paws, nibbling her IV out (which, we had to stop her!). And then they layed down spooning for the sweetest nap ever. When we came back this morning, the change in Freya was dramatic. She was bright, alert, engaging, so excited to see her sister. She lifted her face up to give me a kiss. Hearts exploding all around,” wrote Pali Boucher on Wednesday.

The third puppy – perhaps a shepherd or a husky breed is under the care of Oakland Animal Services where he is also recovering.

Pet Food Express is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for these cases of animal cruelty.

  1. SUCH WONDERFUL NEWS!!! YOU know to see how the organizations on OAKLAND have stepped up to the plate Amazes and also make me feel a whole lot different about YOUR STATE!!! YOU guys have gone the HIGH ROAD to help these poor tortured sisters… and that makes the difference!!!

  2. Animal abusers and child abusers are such cowards. they go after the most vulnerable who can’t fight back….COWARD!!!!

  3. So glad these innocent defenseless puppies are recovering – the piece of maggot shit who tortured and abused them prove they are spineless – to abuse those who are defenseless and have no voice only proves that they are cowards who would run away if confronted by someone who could defend themselves. I doubt they will ever be caught so hopefully, a fatal encounter with an 18 wheeler is in their very near future – to see them splattered over the road would be real justice for these puppies.
