A Western Michigan animal rescue is asking for the public’s help finding the owner of ‘Ghost,’ a 6-month-old pup found with a heartbreaking note attached to her collar.

According to the rescue group, Luvnpupz, the puppy was found “hungry, cold, sad and confused.” On their Facebook page, the group posted details about the story insisting any derogatory remarks would be deleted.

“Meet ‘Ghost’…. We want to help her … and we need YOUR help. We are reaching out to our West Michigan community to help us find ‘Ghost’s’ owner so that we can work together to figure out if there is a way to return her home with some support and assistance, or to give her owner the peace in knowing that we will help find her an incredibly loving and caring new forever home by facilitating a surrender to our organization. We promise to never reveal your name.”

The brown and white, adorable coon hound had a note tied to her collar which stated,

“I am lost and looking for a home. My owner had a stroke and cannot care for me. Please don’t take me to a shelter.”

Please help us spread the word and find “Ghost’s” owner. Any information can be shared anonymously with Luvnpupz by calling/texting 616.293.4528 or messaging the Luvnpupz page. It takes a village…..and we are grateful.

  1. The owner MUST be found! Many many prayers that the two will be reunited!
With donations they can be seriously helped! Many prayers and blessings also to the rescuers! Please please keep us posted. I am sure many of us, myself included, are ready to donate! This situation also cries out for a GoFundMe page!

  2. I had a very similar experience – a min pin at the park during off leash hours. I found him standing in the parking lot, and he had a laminated note attached to his collar which stated that his owner had died, and “the people who brought me here didn’t want to take me to doggie jail, because they know I would be killed there.”
He was 13 years old when I found him, and he lived another 3 1/2 years. He had a heart murmur, but he was a feisty survivor, and a very lovable little rascal.

    • Yes and what would have happened to him if he hadn’t been fortunate enough to run into YOU? One has to wonder why they think doing something like this could have a GOOD outcome when there are so many monsters in this world just ready to abuse such a dog. This is no way to get rid of a dog!

      • Agreed. It’s a bad situation all the way around, and heavy restrictions, if not a total ban, on breeding should be in place.

  3. The dog was abandoned, left to fend for it’s self, could have been hit by a car, attacked by another animal, picked up by dog fighting people, any number of horrible things could have happened to this dog. Whoever did this didn’t have the best interests of the dog in mind at all, If they are so ill they can’t take care of the poor thing but are able to write a “heart rendering” note and dump the dog, then I am inclined not to think they need to get the dog back, certainly they could have found a better way to get rid of the dog they didn’t want!

  4. Praying that Ghost’s owner can be found and figure out a way for them to stay together. This situation needs help and once you find the owner, then you can set a plan in motion. Please let us know what happens to Ghost and the owner.

  5. Yes, please keep us posted as to this precious dog’s welfare, I believe there are more willing to help than to hinder, and we should be thankful he DID end up in the right hands. Please God, help them find his owner so that some sort of arrangement can be made to help them both.
I don’t think we should jump to conclusions that it was the owner who wrote the note, but perhaps someone they requested to care for the dog but who didn’t want it. That person may have fe,t guilty for not caring and thus the wording of the note regarding no doggy jail. There are millions around the world who have nobody who loves or cares about them – there but for the Grace of God are we all.
