Woman pleads guilty to beating husband and dog

A Michigan woman has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a brutal attack that left her husband, and senior dog, dead. According to Monday’s publication of the Daily Mail, 60-year-old Yvonne Helen Cortis claimed she was putting her husband, Gregory Cortis, and their 11-year-old Labrador retriever, “out of their misery” when she bludgeoned them with a crowbar in November 2015.

Cortis and the dog survived the brutal attack for a short time, but ultimately died from the blunt force trauma sustained in the brutal attack. Gregory was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but his wife’s attack was not considered to be an act of compassion – the Milford Police Chief stated that it was, “an intense domestic violence crime.” On Friday, she pleaded guilty to charges for second-degree murder and killing/torturing an animal.

Yvonne Cortis will be sentenced on January 3 – she faces the possibility of life in prison.

  1. WTF? Being beat to death with a crowbar is NEVER an “act of compassion.” I hope this beotch rots in Hell because it’s what she deserves. I have an 11 year old Lab (and a 14 year old Lab) and I cannot begin to imagine hitting them with anything, much less a crowbar. RIP Gregory Cortis and sweet dog. You are together and you’ll never have to see your useless POS wife again because you’re in Heaven and she’ll be going the opposite direction.

  2. Pure evil! Bludgeoning her husband and the innocent dog to death is an act of rage not compassion. Charge this monster with murder and cruelty to animals, and throw the human trash in prison for life.

  3. Psycho —Looks like meth. Look at her face. It is pure evil. Poor husband and family dog. Labs are always so sweet. The man and his lab are frolicking in heaven away from this monster. They suffered so. Hope she gets the death penalty. Public will be watching.

  4. Life in prison, yippee! Death penalty would be too good for her, she should suffer in prison, solitary confinement and one meal a day! But I also know what the officials would say, that’s cruel and unusual punishment but what was beating her husband and dog, wasn’t that cruel and unusual punishment too?
