A woman who owns horses and manages stables in Hinckley, Leicestershire, is considering giving up her equine business after a man was caught raping one of her horses. According to The Mirror, 48-year-old George Smith was caught with his pants down, so to speak, sexually assaulting a mare named Ruby earlier this year.

When questioned by the authorities, Smith admitted to his despicable transgression – though he has not stated what drove him to violate the horse, who he apparently was “fixated on,” and considered to be “his mate.” His lawyer, Rashpal Singh, stated, “This was an isolated incident. Mr Smith hasn’t been able to give me a coherent explanation to what led him to do such a thing.”

Smith, a horse owner himself, has stated that he is going to get rid of his own horses – he has been sentenced to a four-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, and a 10 year ban from being around animals. Since word got out that Smith had sexually assaulted the 10-year-old horse, he has failed to find work.

As for Ruby’s owner, she isn’t sure that she can continue her business. She stated, “This incident has deeply disturbed me. Not only finding George in the stable but the implication it has had – I’m considering giving up the yard.”

  1. OMG!!! That sentence is a joke. It should have been 12 years jail time. Unless the courts get serious about animal abuse, this BS will continue. This was just a slap on the wrist. Ruby’s owner, don’t give up on what you love just because of a POS. The horses need you, WE NEED YOU.
