Woman accused of attempted drowning won't be prosecuted

Woman accused of trying to drown her dog won’t be prosecuted

According to the Dayton-Beach New Journal, a 71-year-old Florida woman, who is accused of trying to drown her senior dog at a beach at Ponce Inlet at Lighthouse Point Park, will not be prosecuted. The accused, identified as  Marilynne Elsie Jones, was arrested in August 2016 after witnesses claim that she held her 11-year-old dog underwater.

Jones’ dog “Gracie,” a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, survived, but was taken out of Jones’ custody. Even though Jones will not be prosecuted, Gracie will not be returned to her care.

The judge presiding over the case ordered Jones to pay $1700 in veterinary bills which resulted from the incident, and she agreed that Jones should not be given custody of the dog, but opted not to prosecuted because the primary witness to the alleged crime was found to have “embellished” his story.

Jones has stated that she never would have tried to kill her dog and she is “very upset” that she will not be reunited with Gracie.

How does one “embellish” watching this POS try to drown her dog? Obviously, since there is $1700 in vet bills she did something to harm the dog! No way should this monster have her dog back and I pray she never gets another one.

No one has the right to DROWN an animal. This animal was 11 years old NOT a young dog. This stupid fool tried to end the life of an animal for NO reason. That 11 year old dog did not have a chance. To think that fool almost succeed if it NOT were for kind witnesses to make sure the fool was in front of a Judge.
