A utility worker, reported to be contracted to do surveying work for AT&T, is accused of fatally shooting a dog in Michigan last Friday. According to multiple sources, the worker shot the four-year-old dog “point blank” while she was in her own yard, which is surrounded by an invisible fence.

The dog, named “Katie,” belonged to Douglass and Michael Eiben of Livonia – the brothers are devastated that Katie was killed on her own property. The utility worker, with Metro Engineering Solutions, allegedly shot Katie from neighboring property where he was attempting to read a meter.

According to Fox 47 News, the employee is currently on leave while the incident is under investigation. A spokesperson for the company was unable to answer whether or not employees are allowed to carry guns while on the job.

  1. What a disgusting POS…….
Hope he is arrested & locked up forever with animal lovers who can give him “special attention”…….
Hope the rest of his useless life is filled with pain and suffering. Execution would improve our planet since this POS is a waste of resources……
If that were my dog, I would sue because my dog was where they were supposed to be: on MY property, contained by a fence……. The POS simply wanted to kill a helpless animal…..
My nickel’s worth of free advice is to get a good lawyer and SUE the POS and AT&T……
RIP angel. The monster who did this to you will burn in Hell forever for his cruelty…….

  2. What the hell is a utility worker doing with a gun??? Put his butt in jail for murder. The dog was no where near him and he kills her!!! This has to stop NOW. First POLICE and now Utility workers????

  3. This POS should be fired and arrested for animal abuse. Since when utility workers are allowed to carry hand guns? Hire a lawyer and personally sue this human trash and AT&T.

  4. AND THEY BETTER FIRE THIS STUPID AND DANGEROUS ASSWIPE!!! THIS IS %10,000 UNACCEPTABLE AND I HOPE THESE OWNERS SUE THE PANTS OFF OF AT&T!! Over a meter reading??? Give me a break! WHAT A POS! HE NEEDS TO BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED IMMEDIATELY!!!! I hope we are kept updated on this so it can be spread all over social media that AT&T can kill your pet and get away with it!!!

  5. Animal abuse from meter readers and other utility workers is rampant. The company usually defends them. I watched my little dog be kicked because she was barking and i raised holy hell. The max of charges should happen here. Felony animal abuse and then sue AT &T. The worst is you lost your baby because AT&T hires a-holes and your dog was murdered for protecting his family and home.

  6. It is a sad fact that even when a dog is in its own yard they are getting shot and killed! First never leave your pets outside by themselves! Second go after the piece of garbage who has injured or killed your pet! If law enforcement won’t help then do what you have to do! I have been a vet for over 40 years and an animal rights activist even longer! I’m the judge jury and executioner! My punishment is fast and brutal! In my world I make the punishment match the crime!

  7. I take it reading a meter is such a “dangerous” undertaking that the readers must now carry a gun? This is disgusting, the dog was in her own yard, if she had come through the “invisible” fence (I know from 25 years experience with these fences that it is highly unlikely) then may be he had a legitimate excuse. If the Law won’t protect your property, then I say a law suit is in order to both the meter reader and AT&T!

  8. I am sorry for this family’s loss.Bit confused. Isn’t surveying and reading meters two different things.Or was the worker doing both?I am not aware of any AT & T meters that need to be read. The story seems crossed.Any surveying being done is usually announced to homeowners a couple of days before hand.Reading meters is just that, reading. Also, most utility companies have new tools that can read from a distance,at least where I live my meter reader doesn’t have to come in the yard.

    • Actually some of us living in Upstate New York, living in the stone age, still need to get our meters read. We recently got a notice from the NYSEG that our meter hadn’t been read for a year because of the “vicious” dogs in the yard. Why someone didn’t come and knock on our door and tell us they were there to read the meter, we don’t know. It’s hard to know when to put the dogs up since they don’t come the same day every month.

  9. why has this fool not been charged? and since when can utility workers go around packing guns and worse, using them to shoot dogs in their own yard. How horrific. So sorry to the dog and owners.
