We have come to find out there are very few quiet days for animal rescue organizations, and Wednesday was no different for Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, a non profit whose goal focuses on the needs of urgent animals and provide them  emergency or specialized medical care they need and deserve.  A dog with shocking injuries arrived at a partner veterinarian hospital in South Carolina. Hours later, it was decided surgery was her only option – as small as the odds were, to survive.

The senior Labrador retriever underwent surgery. Her story broke everyone’s heart:

“Seeing this made our hearts literally hurt,” stated Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of the rescue organization. “Foxy is a sweet 12-year-old Lab mix who was attacked by four others dog in South Carolina. She came into our vet, and there were two options – she could have been euthanized or admitted to the hospital for surgery.”

“If wishes were horses, beggars would ride,” echos an old English proverb. As much as Foxy wanted to live; as much as Jackie O’Sullivan,  the co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC told Pet Rescue Report she wanted Foxy to live, and as much as veterinarians did everything in their power to help the sweet dog, her injuries were too severe and her body was too weak.

Early Thursday afternoon, the heartbreaking update came:

“We are heartbroken to report that precious Foxy has lost her battle & gone to heaven. She survived a horrific attack that we were later told was 4 dogs on her. She was scalped. She arrived at our SC vet in shock but was stabilized & taken in for life saving surgery last night. She survived the surgery & was doing well, but we think due to the intense trauma she suffered, she just couldn’t fight any more,” Jackie sadly posted.

“We thank everyone who supported this save. Foxy mattered & she knew love & compassion in the end.

RIP Foxy! You are an angel now.”
