In Phoenix, police continue to investigate a report from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control concerning a 2-month-old husky puppy brought to the shelter on Friday night with a severe skull fracture and bleeding. The pup, dubbed BB Bear, has been placed in a medically induced coma after veterinarians determined he suffered a massive skull fracture.

According to the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Facebook entry by Eva Boyle, authorities believe someone deliberately caused BB Bear’s injuries. If he recovers, he is likely to be blind and have no sense of smell; more permanent long term effects are possible.

“The vets at Phoenix Dog/Cat/Bird Hospital are doing EVERYTHING in their power to care for him and WE couldn’t be more grateful to the team there. A LOT of people, more than we could of imagined, have come forward to ask “what can we do?” The list of people wanting to give him a home is incredible. We do not know if he will EVER be available for adoption. We must first get him better and from there we will decide how we will place him in a forever.”

For anyone wanting to help, several options have been listed:

  • Medical expense donations can be made to Two Pups Wellness Fund or Arizona Animal Rescue Mission….please do not contact the hospital directly.
  • Report all abuse. If anyone knows who did this to the puppy, report it to the authorities
  • Adopt a shelter pet. This pup may never be ready for adoption and there are hundreds of pets ready for a new home. What a great way to honor this little guy’s uphill battle at survival.

  1. My God….heartbreaking! Just absolutely heartbreaking! It will be a miracle if this baby survives! And if BB Bear does pull thru I hope and pray he can have quality of life and that will take a very special person to have the devotion to provide that for him. Such a precious little angel! I will be praying for this beautiful little fur baby???????? Will be praying for that miracle BB Bear so richly deserves! Too bad that whoever brutally hurt this sweetheart can’t be held accountable for this cruelty!

  2. I pray this dog makes it and goes on to be with a family that will give him a loving, caring home. A long way off, but each day, even with the medically induced coma, he came come out of it. What scum there are in the world and this epidemic proportion. Police, politicians, and our country need to come together to end these senseless, cruel torturing of any animal.

  3. Whats with all the hurt to innocent babies? How bout some street justice should you see this going on? I am 81 and i would be bashing someone hurting any dog or cat. You sewer scum showing manhood? The first place i would head for is your manhood–with my foot.

  4. WHEN will authorities in all states wake up and start doing something about this horrendous epidemic of animal abuse? Why don’t police departments open a special squad that deals ONLY in animal abuse? These animals deserve much better than to be treated like trash yet it seems to get worse and worse and authorities turn a blind eye to it. I don’t want to hear no money – they have money for other less important things, they can find the funds to start a service that is desperately needed. This little dog did not deserve to be treated so cruelly, yet no one will be brought to justice because no one will be looking for this hunk of maggot puke.
