In rural Georgia, it’s not that county shelters want to euthanize adorable little puppies like Cassie when they are brought in, but the lack of funding prohibits spending the amount of money needed to diagnose many of the physical problems abandoned, stray or homeless pets face. And so humane euthanization was to be the fate of an unstable four-month-old puppy; that is until Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC was asked by the shelter on Friday afternoon to help:
“Cassie can stand, but then loses control and falls; it is much easier for her to drag herself then stand. She is very weak when standing and the movement of walking, she gets unstable falls and drags herself,” explained Jackie as the group posted photos and short videos of Cassie struggling to stand upright.
Beautiful Cassie’s life does matter and she will be spending the weekend at the Georgia emergency veterinarian hospital where she has already been administered steroids hoping that will help. Her testing will be completed on Monday, and then veterinarians will know what the next step to her recovery and rehabilitation will involve. A short video has been attached. Meanwhile advocates are asked to keep their fingers and toes crossed for this sweet puppy’s recovery.

Video of Cassie still at the shelter. Her condition seems to have improved since she has been at the veterinarian hospital, although she is still quite unsteady on her legs.
