A Ukrainian woman is currently under investigation for animal cruelty after posting photos of her cat on Instagram after tattooing the defenseless animal to make it look as “glamorous” as her, Elena Ivanickaya has stated.
According to the Daily Mail, Ivanickaya, who lives in Chernihiv, located in northwest Ukraine, had an image of a winged Egyptian tattooed onto the chest of her Sphynx cat. After posting photos of the cat having been unconscious while being inked, animal lovers and advocates became outraged at the online display accusing the woman of animal cruelty. Angry viewers came out in droves criticizing the model and self proclaimed “fitness athlete” who took full advantage of posting her own bikini photos to garner more attention.
Police spokesman Natalia Chovpylo said: “If we establish that the animal was tortured, we will open a criminal case.” UAnimals, the largest animal rights group in Ukraine, posted: “The cat’s owner thought it fun to give her pet cat a tattoo.
It didn’t take long however for Ivanickaya to fight back on the ongoing criticism and insults – defending her actions and stating the cat was not harmed in any way while noting that her cat had never been neutered – and she considered that real cruelty.
“This cat’s life is better then yours. Maybe it is hell for you, but he feels just fine,” Ivanickaya hissed back. “He has not been castrated and he never will be, this would be real cruelty. I checked with the vet before getting him a tattoo and they were fine with it and a vet was present while they were doing the tattoo, so everything was under control.”
Ivanickaya insists her cat lives better than most of her critics – posting a photo on her Instagram page of fresh oysters.
