Two frightened husky puppies abandoned at Fresno park with sad note

Alone and afraid, two shivering husky puppies had been abandoned at Woodward Dog Park in Fresno, California on October . For three hours, the puppies waited and watched the other dogs, the children and the people coming and going, but no one familiar walked by. Whoever had left them up, left them with a box of dog food, toys and a heartbreaking note pleading that whoever found and rescued them would not split them up – as the two were extremely bonded and depended on each other for comfort.

“Hi – our names are Jada (black) and Layla (brown) we are nice 1 year-old dogs. Please don’t split us up. Layla gets scared without her sister.”

Kati Asi had been at the park when she realized the dogs had been abandoned. She contacted the park manager Mona Ahmed, an ASPCA volunteer, according to AbcNews,

“I was angry,” Asi said. “I wish that they might have given a reason because then I would understand more, but to just leave their names not even tell us if they have their shots or if they’re spayed, I think is kind of mean,” she said.

Ahmed has a nonprofit called Fresno Furry Friends, which helps to run the dog park, and in the ten years the park has been open, Jada and Layla are the 14th and 15th dogs left there. Ahmed said all but one of the dogs have since been re-homed. It’s truly heartbreaking to see these two dogs’ young lives turned upside down – surely they were loyal to the very people who betrayed.

Both dogs are currently in foster care. For more information concerning adoption, contact Mona Ahmed at [email protected].

  1. What is this the new trend now? Abandon your pet with a sad note and all will be well? I’m not buying it, it’s still leaving helpless dogs in a park to a fate unknown so whoever did this doesn’t get a pass from me! If you can’t take care of your pets then do the right thing and find them a new home, dropping them at the “kill” shelter is better than letting them fend for themselves in a park! I hope and pray these precious pups will find a loving home together and the new family won’t ever do this to them again!

  2. If this miserable example of an owner really cared about their dogs they would have taken them to a rescue and not dumped them in a dog park – their serving note means nothing – they gave no information about Jada & Layla, just their ploy for sympathy – Thank God at least these two beauties are in a foster home and not stuck in some high kill shelter. I hope they get their forever home together – they so well deserve it. Good Luck Jada and Layla, you two beauties deserve a good life.
