It’s enough to make the hair on one’s arms stand erect; the day that animal rescue owner Deidra Lewis made the grisly discovery at a farm in the West Texas county of Ector late last week. Nineteen bags of dead dogs had been dumped – Deidra stated there were 21 dog bodies and some of the  dead dogs still wore their collars.

According to NewWest9, Deidra who runs West Texas Diamonds in the Ruff, found the bodies of the dogs at Pleasant Farms  after receiving a tip that the bones of nearly two dozen dogs had been scattered in the area. Deidra was so upset by the discovery, her Facebook post reflected her intense feelings of loss and horror:

“You thought you’ve seen the worse only to drive up on a dead animal dumping ground with carcasses all around you, a random paw scattered here or there. And you think to yourself, ‘what type of society do we live in?'”

Deidra notified police who are  scheduled to clean up the area. It is not known if an investigation is underway.

Amidst the tragic findings however, Deidra looked for a bright star in that terrible dark sky of cruelty and inhumanity; the three surviving dogs who were rescued.

“We had opted to focus on what we knew would come out of the discovery and that is 3 very much alive, scared, and traumatized little girls.
I know these pictures don’t generate the shock and awww factor but they should be the focus in my opinion.
These girls need a foster or adopters, and they need vet care started. They are shy and it will take a little time for them to come around but through the cowering heads, their tails are wagging.”

Although there is no future nor explanation at this time for the 21 dogs who lost their lives, Deidra tries her best now to concentrate on the here and the now. Remember to spay and neuter your pets, have them micro chipped and don’t let them run freely without direct supervision – even if you live in the country or rural areas.

“So now I’m asking you this? Are you doing everything you can to help?,” posted Deidra. “Have you vaccinated your dogs to limit the spread of illness? Is your pet spayed or neutered to prevent unnecessary litters? Have you considered adopting a dog rather than buying from a breeder? Can you open your home to a foster dog? Sponsor a dog? Advocate and educate the public? Can you donate?

  1. OMG……. what horrors those precious furbabies suffered…….

The POS who murdered all those innocent dogs will burn in Hell forever for their cruelty…..

I hope they are caught before they “graduate” to humans……

  2. It’s not known if and investigation is underway, that is why these atrocities keep happening, the mentality that they are “just dogs” means the police don’t take such things seriously. Animal rescue owner Deidra Lewis is most likely the only one that really cares. I’m so sorry for her finding such a disgusting mess that someone has left and the knowledge that these precious lives meant so little to whoever dumped them there, I’m sure, breaks her heart as it does any of us that care. Rest in peace precious dogs, and may God bless and give Deidra Lewis the strength to continue helping the voiceless animals.

  3. This is a horror movie for real! These beautiful animals dead why? How? By whom? It’s time me for some street justice!

  4. I hope they find who did this and put their dumb asses in a bag and throw them away. This is absolutely HORRIBLE!!!

    • I was thinking the same thing! Whoever did this needs to be stuffed into a bag, tied up tightly and taken to the dump and buried amongst all the other trash that’s there because that is what they are! The world doesn’t need “people” like that!

  5. Thank you for what you do Deidra. I will pray for your emotional & financial well-being as you do this saving work that most could not do. I am afraid to read the news anymore. I think I’ve heard the worst and then something like this happens. And the post says “It is not known IF an investigation is underway.”! How could those in law enforcement NOT investigate??? This world just becomes more and more evil every day.

    • Being an animal rescuer in Wisconsin we take alot of dogs from Texas in such horrific shape. Parts of Texas is like a 3rd world country. I don’t understand it. Texas needs some laws in place for animal abuse and someone to enforce these laws. It makes me sick to my stomach the abuse that goes on in Texas

  6. Si ces meurtriers sont trouvés,inutile qu’ils passent en jugement, la sentence est déjà faite. Les mettre dans un plastique et les laisser crever. Pas de pitié pour les assassins, tous en enfer.

  7. OMG! To say I’m horrified is an understatement! Again until laws are changed and a hard stance is taken in the judicial system this will never slow down! Instead,as we have seen, animal cruelty has grown and flourished into an out of control and rampant crime! And like all crimes that go unpunished it will continue to epic proportions!

  8. I doubt the 3 surviving dogs were found in the same area, but, she needs to find homes for them regardless of where they actually came from.
