On Monday, the St. Landry Parish Animal Control & Rescue shared one of the saddest but bravest stories on social media about a mother dog, both tethered and tangled, protecting her newborn puppies despite the worst conditions imaginable:
“I witnessed one of the saddest sights today. A momma dog tied out to a tree. Her tether so tight. She had nowhere to have her puppies. So she did the best she could. Covered in ants and mosquitoes. She never faulted her attention to her puppies…. as we untangled her, and she could move.
Her puppies still wet, as she attempted to protect each one. One was drowning, sadly. It lay in a pool of blood. Under all the puppies. This is the LIFE of a chained dog…a pregnant dog. SEIZED PROPERTY.”
The mother dog and her puppies were transported to the organization’s veterinarian partner, Bellevue Vet Clinic, where they are receiving emergency care. St. Landry Parish Animal Control & Rescue is reaching out to the community for help with the newborn puppies who need milk replacement. Esbilac (complete diet for puppies fortified with vitamins and minerals). Sadly, at this time, the mother dog, dubbed Libby is unable to successfully nourish her puppies.
Since arriving on Monday, Libby has given birth to four more puppies – making a total of 12 surviving puppies.
The case is under investigation and animal cruelty charges are being pursued.

UNDER INVESTIGATION??? Exactly WHAT part of this case needs to be investigated???? This dog certainly did not tie herself to a tree – some piss poor excuse for a human did this and needs to be charged with FELONY animal cruelty – or preferably, nail this bastard to a tree and leave him – let the punishment fit the crime.
Go after and arrest scum who did this to her and make them pay for all her medical expenses. Then throw them in jail forever and let inmates deal with him.
The disgusting POS who tied the mama dog to the tree where she had to give birth tethered should face jail time, hefty fine, and pay the medical expenses. Some people are just pure evil!

Exactly!!! there is photo documentation and if THIS is not cruelty , neglect, severe abuse , What the Hell is … This a Reservation somewhere … that is exactly the way dogs are treated there… Get off your “butts” law enforcement and do your job!!! I suppose the mom and pups will be euthanized unless the rescue in NY comes forward AGAIN to assist when no one else will… Where ever this is people are despicable !!!! the owner NEEDS to be placed on the front page of the newspaper and chastised in the horrific manner they treated this little family!!!

please tell me the people who abandoned this sweet dog have been arrested
