Update 5/15/17: Rescued!

Volunteers working to save dogs in a rural south Texas animal control agency have been given a horrible ultimatum for a dog who has been described as the “sweetheart of the shelter.” According to the volunteer-run Facebook page, Nueces County, TX: Dogs in Need of Rescue, Sweet Carolina must leave today (Thursday), or she will be put down.

The frightening post was made on Thursday morning:

FRUSTRATED TO NO END…BUT WE are seriously drowning in dogs here. we need to figure something out for this dog!
Shes the damn SWEETHEART OF THE SHELTER: a lovely LAB / RIDGEBACK MIX.
Has been here THREE WEEKS: DIRECTOR HAS ORDERED HER PUT DOWN! NOW. And frankly if no one can help our hands are tied.
CALL OR TEXT NOW: this dog is URGENT.

Caroline hasn’t done anything to deserve being put down – but the facility is filled to capacity and she keeps getting passed by. Please help draw much needed (life saving!) attention to Caroline by sharing her information – you might be the one who saves her life.

Volunteers can assist with tags & pulls for rescues!
Call now to save Caroline in Kennel 3
She’s here in rural South Texas close to Corpus Christi

  1. Texas is a state with so much land. There is not one family or single person that can save this dog’s life??? Can Caroline travel? Are there resources to transport her???

  2. There has to be some Rescue out there that can help. Please!! Willing to donate $20 to the rescue org. Need more donations, please!!! She is a sweetheart. They all are, and none of them should be put down. It is because of uncaring owners

  3. Caroline may be the sweetheart of the shelter BUT this shelter is no sweetheart to her – I understand that it is at capacity BUT there must be another solution rather than kill her – there MUST be some rescue groups who can help her and find a foster home for Caroline. There has to be another option. Caroline deserves to get a safe loving home –

    • I always wonder what they do to network these dogs. Do they just stick them in kennels until they are full and then start killing them because they are out of space. Do they hold adoption events? Put them on TV? Put them in the papers? Call rescues? Post them on their facebook pages? Do they do ANYTHING but let them sit in a kennel and hope someone stops by to adopt a dog and a lucky one will be saved? We never seem to see them before their time has run out, so why is that?

  4. Come on people. I have rescued 6 dogs so there is someone out there that can open their door and let this dog live. Don’t be selfish but think about someone else that needs help. You will feel good about yourself when you do. I promise. I have felt good 6 times and counting.

  5. Put down the director. These senseless animal killings at shelters need to stop. I blame the states for not having a low cost or no cost spaying and neutering program. People love there pets and some can’t afford the price they charge. It doesn’t matter how careful you are with your pets sometimes things happen.

  6. There has got to be a rescue team watching this feed…let us help you save this dog and up the marketing campaigns to get perm home….help!!!

  7. someone should put the piece of shit director down, if I was in area the director would pay eye for an eye,,or life for life

  8. surely instead of putting Caroline to sleep they could find her another shelter to go into. FFS its not rocket science Texas. I pray that something can be done to save Caroline if its not to late already
