A dog, suffering with a tight rubber band around his snout, was found by a good Samaritan in Pomona, California. On Thursday the Inland Valley Humane Society and SPCA issued a release about the cruel and disturbing discovery.

The dog, a three-year-old Chow Chow mix, was discovered on the 500 block of Pasadena Avenue in the city of Pomona. The dog, dubbed “Caleb,” was taken to a veterinarian for care – veterinary staff determined that Caleb had been suffering with the band around his snout for quite some time.

Dr. Cynthia Kinney with the shelter told KTLA News, “It was on so tight and probably for a while that it had cut off circulation and dug into the skin. Unfortunately, I have seen this. I haven’t seen it on a muzzle, but I’ve seen people do this on legs or ears or tails.” She added, “I think it is pretty malicious, but as to why they would do it, I have no idea. I don’t know if he was barking or chewing, or if it was a prank.”

Anyone with information about this dog, or this situation, is asked to call the Inland Valley Humane Society at 909-623-9777.
