In a heartbreaking discovery from the Queensland animal welfare organization Off the Chain K9 Rescue, rescuers called out the “parasitic sub-human” who tried to drown three newborn puppies and kittens on Wednesday and then discarded the little ones like trash at a public rest stop. The kittens and puppies, soaking wet, had been stuffed in a pillowcase.
On the organization’s Facebook page, founder Jess Otto posted the heartbreaking photos and explained the deep emotional scars felt by the rescuers who traveled 125 miles round trip to save the surviving puppies who still had their umbilical cords attached:
“It was a tragic find by a Toowoomba woman – kittens and a puppy drowned in a pillowcase. Two newborn puppies managed to survive the ordeal, and the woman cared for them until she was able to pass them on to Toowoomba animal rescue Off the Chain K9 Rescue.”
The two tiny survivors now referred to as “The Lucky Two” are fighting for their lives.
“This is heartbreaking,” Otto continued. “It hits you hard and right where it hurts. We’ve been emotional messes all day. We are tired, we are angry and we are sad. But we won’t give up! These guys stand a chance and we need your help to make it happen. We are extremely upset and worried about their mother. We also believe them to be kelpie x and it’s very unlikely that only three were in the litter so we are desperate for information that may lead us to others.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the rescue. It is not known why there were kittens drowned along with the puppies and how two of the tiny ones were able to survive.
The rescue needs donations to help. Anyone wanting to donate goods or money for the vet care would be greatly appreciated. In addition, the following is needed:
