A staff sergeant at Ft. Jackson is accused of abandoning two dozen animals inside of an apartment in Richland County, South Carolina. According to Thursday’s WISTV News, 24 animals, including one dog, were found dead inside of an apartment that 36-year-old Kurt Hafner allegedly walked away from in February.

The foul smell of death led investigators to the gruesome discovery at the apartment on Meredith Square. Investigator Joseph Clarke described the horrific conditions inside, “This home was in disarray, to say the least. There was a lot of fecal matter from the K-9 that we found deceased. There was personal papers, residual ammunition, and personal property belonging to the suspect. The house was in tremendously bad shape with a really bad odor of decomposition.”

Among the deceased animals inside of the apartment were multiple venomous snakes, snapping turtles, a bearded dragon and a beagle mix dog.

Hafner has been taken into custody at Fort Jackson.

  1. Throw him out of the service, strip him of all pay and benefits and throw him in jail. He is evil and not worth any consideration.

    • Youre a big man right letting all those animals die? You are disgusting you should be shut away from everybody, you should have f one to you for what you did to those poor animals!

  2. What a FUCKING IGNORANT BASTARD. He’s supposed to serve what a joke he can’t even be responsible for pets…he better go away for a long time what a disgrace

  3. This always amazes me, someone leaves an apartment and it’s months before someone checks to see what condition the apartment is in after they leave. Any apartment I ever rented they were there waiting for me to move to inspect to see if I would get my deposit back. This POS left these poor animals to fend for themselves, I hope he is punished severely!

    • I thought the same. How can an apartment not be inspected once the tenant has left. Unless he vacated without anyone knowing. He’s such a rat bastard prick.

  4. I have an idea! Let’s lock him in an apartment and not leave any food or water and forget about him! I am not a snake or lizard fan…. but that being said, if that is what you choose to have as a pet, you are responsible for their care. What a piece of shit!!!

  5. What a low life scum bag! I hope he pays a very steep price in terms of military pay and benefits and the judicial system! The evil jerks that’s do this kind of thing basically know that there is little to no repercussions for this kind of behavior. So sickening!

  6. O Hell, I have NO faith in any justice system, military or otherwise, just nail this useless waste to a tree and leave him – he deserves EXACTLY what he gave those animals, NO MERCY!

  7. Damn evil bastard. Death isn’t enough justifiable punishment for you. You are another demon from hell, consuming air from the living. YOU SHALL REAP WHAT YOU SOW!

  8. Throw his rotten ass in Prison and make him stay there and don’t feed him. He doesn’t deserve to be out in Public again.

  9. I hope you find him & bury him under the jail…..how do these people get pets? There has got to be a stronger process in place for people to get animals.

  10. The best justification would be NOT letting him live very long. Put him in a solitary cage no food , no water, no human contact for 90 days, then put him in a pit of venomous snakes, slowly, so not to disturb the snakes, until he realizes where he is, n loses it and freaks out, then is when the fun begins for the snakes.
Talk about Justice. That would be his JUST REWARD.
