Half dozen dogs die in the heat
Spread the love

An animal shelter in Sacramento, California, has posted a warning to area residents about dogs dying in the heat. On June 21, the Front Street Animal Shelter posted an image of a dog, in a bag, on a gurney, along with a few sad words about the sad reality of dogs being left to suffer in the heat.

The Facebook post reads:

The stark reality of hot weather affecting animals left without shade or fresh water is real at Front Street. So far this week, at least 6 dogs have been brought to us for “disposal” and we can only imagine how many more are out there.

According to the shelter, the dog wrapped in the black tarp is a purebred bulldog who died because of a lack of basic care, and being left in the heat.

Tips provided by the animal shelter include:

Please help us end the unnecessary suffering. Make sure your pets have a place to stay cool, out of the sun. Always provide fresh, clean, cool water. We understand that not all dogs get to live inside, but if you have an outdoor dog, remember that they still need your care.

Remember – if you are hot, your pet is hot. Please do your utmost to keep your pet comfortable when the temperature climbs.

  1. Common sense dictates that if its hot outside your dog needs water and shade. It’s very easy for a dog to get heat stroke. My dogs are kept in my home with air conditioning. When its 90+ degrees they don’t even want to go out, and they are not little dogs. Imagine if you have to wear a fur coat in the middle of the summer.

  2. If these Idiots need to be told about the heat and how their animals should be treated and cared for need NOT have an animal in the first place. They are IDIOTS!!!!

    • I agree, you would think common sense would tell people if it’s too hot/cold for you, it’s too hot/cold for your pet! There is a big lack of common sense anymore, there are many that have to be led around by the hand and told how to do EVERYTHING! I hate to think what they do raising children!

  3. Good Grief!!!! THIS IS NOTHING short of DOWN RIGHT STUPIDITY on the part of these CANIFORNIA NITWITS!!!! THEY have to KNOW THEIR DOG IS IN SERIOUS DANGER>>> THEY JUST DONT” GIVE A TOTAL SHIT!!!

    • California nitwits and MA (where I live) do the same where the humidity is severe. I have knocked on owners doors to express my concerns and they threaten me with restraining orders. I tell them fine do it I have proof through my phone that there are no bowls for food and water. “I’m sure the district court would be on my side”.

  4. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi il y a encore des animaux qui meurent de chaleur. Les maîtres doivent être responsables de leur négligence, s’est comme s’ils laissaient leurs enfants sous le soleil brûlant, s’est inadmissible.
