Jazz is a ten-year-old Chow Chow mix who was surrendered to the Cobb Animal Control Shelter on March 10 in deplorable condition. His family told the shelter they were no longer able to care for their dog. Sadly, it appears his former owners had not taken care of him much at all.

Jazz is suffering from a severe skin infection and is underweight. In addition he also suffers from entropion, a medical condition in which the eyelid (usually the lower lid) folds inward. It is very uncomfortable, as the eyelashes constantly rub against the cornea and irritate it. The condition is treatable through surgery. No matter how poorly he was treated, however Jazz doesn’t hold a grudge. The staff reports this sweet pup as being house trained and good with children.  A Facebook page for Jazz can be found here:

“Jazz is neutered, chipped, and tested heart worm negative. His ID is 593488, and he is in kennel 501 in sick bay. You will need to ask a shelter employee to get Jazz out for you. HE NEEDS OUT ASAP!”

Advocates have been pledging funds for an approved rescue organization to help with Jazz. Please share this dog’s plight with family, friends and social media contacts. If interested in helping, contact:

  1. The heart of a dog is beyond measure! Their capacity for forgiveness is unlimited! The lessons that can be learned from animals by humans is innumerable! Too bad humans for the most part are too ignorant to pay attention!

  2. They were no longer able to care for the dog? You mean they actually THOUGHT they cared for Jazz? These people need to be treated like they treated their dog! All this poor dog ever wanted was to be loved and taken care of and these POS’s failed pitifully!

    • I agree. They waited this long without vet care to bring Jazz to a shelter. Clearly they neglect Jazz’s needs for sometime..

  4. Well from the Extremely Large amount of NEGLECT, ABUSE , DUMPING, TORTURE we read about in Georgia::: IT is apparent that “FOLK” in the Putrid State ARE NOT the KIND HEARTED GRORGIA PEACHES (We Country Folk) out here in the Western States ( where incidently YOU aren’t reading this kind of torture , neglect, about Wyoming, Montana, SD, ND ) on a daily basis.. Have always been Inclined to BELIEVE!!! the LOW LIFE SCUM that allowed Jazz to be in such horrific condition should BE BOILED IN OIL!!!

  5. So sad and his condition is totally unacceptable!! The best thing that has happened so far in Jazz’s life is that he is no longer with his former owners!!! IF YOU CANT PROPERLY CARE FOR AN ANIMAL DONT OWN ONE!!! What is so damn hard to understand about that? THANK GOD IS IS NO LONGER WITH HIS FORMER OWNERS! GET WELL SOON SWEET JAZZ❤

  6. Another piss poor excuse for an ‘owner’ – Jazz was NEVER taken care of – these hunks of sewer slime did NOTHING for this poor dog – just dumped him at a shelter and never looked back – they SHOULD be held accountable for the deplorable condition he is in. This is animal abuse. I’d like five minutes with these maggots.

  7. People should be screened to see if they are fit to Adopt or care for an animal I know cases where I wouldn’t trust a person that wasn’t a caring person to have one in their lives because they were irresponsible in their everyday lives
