Early Saturday morning, the New York Police Department from the 113th Precinct in Jamaica Queens, reached out to the rescue organization New York Bully Crew for help. A disfigured dog was discovered in serious condition; compassionate police officers wanted the severely injured pup to have a chance. He had been found in a field in Jamaica where he was left to die a slow, painful death. It is suspected the dog, now dubbed Springfield by his rescuers, had been the victim of a dog fight. The details are currently being investigated, but the graphic photos of his injuries speak for themselves.

A police escort helped to transport Springfield to an emergency veterinarian for life-saving treatment. The kindness and humanity of the officers have not gone unnoticed. On the rescue’s Facebook page, volunteers thanked the police for going above and beyond to help a victim who cannot speak for himself:

“We thank them for their dedication and kindness and their daily effort to help ALL! Stay tuned for more updates as we receive them… This is one of THE WORST cases we have been involved with…”

On Saturday afternoon, Springfield was rushed into surgery. Dr. Tomas Infernuso performed the operation for the dog’s broken jaw that had been pushing up into his nasal cavity. Both his nose and jaw had to be reconstructed; his body still riddled with bite wounds.  His condition remains critical, and he is currently being transferred to an emergency veterinarian hospital for round the clock care.

  1. Thank you to the police officers and New York Bully Crew for helping this poor baby! As for humans involved in dog fighting the only appropriate and just verdict is death!

  2. Someone knows something.. Someone saw him dumped. Someone was at the fight. For prosecution, i would be happy to donate to witness that can testify as to who did this. Poor Springfield. Others are going through the same and must be caught. The ring must be closed down. Courts must get behind this or it only escalates.

  3. You’re in good hands now Springfield, be strong and get better soon. I wish that these dog fighters could be found though, somebody knows something, speak up!

  4. Very Possibly a Bait dog that was tossed aside when this poor fellow served him purpose !!!! the RIFF-Raff that allowed this to happen are EVIL CRIMALS that will stop at nothing …. THEY need to be dealt with and punished to the fullest extent of the law…

  5. Poor baby. Was he a “bait dog”??? Glad some good people found him and he got the help he desperately needed…….

The POS’s who abused him will burn in Hell forever for their cruelty……. Hope they get there ASAP…….

  6. Oh my God! Pray for this dog that he pulls through and leads a happy life. Police need to go after the scum who continue to fight dogs and put them in jail forever. These thugs should not be on the face of this earth.

  7. Until the justice system recognizes the cruelty involved in dogfighting and punishes dogfighters appropriately this horrific abuse will never stop. There needs to be a proactive force to find these hunks of maggot puke and convict them – not these piss poor slaps on the hands, not 1-2 years in jail – SERIOUS prison time – to see these poor animals be forced to fight then dumped like trash infuriates any animal lover. Personally, I feel animal cruelty should be prosecuted on the same level as child cruelty – it is abuse of those who have no voice, are defenseless and innocent. WAKE UP!!

  8. Thank You so much for helping this poor baby!!!! Thank you for not overreacting and hurting him!!! I hope he has enough to be saved and finds a Loving Home!!

  9. Thank you officers for finding and helping this precious soul. Thank you to New York Bully crew for assisting him. I can not even begin to explain the HATE I feel for everyone involved in dog fighting…. they can not be human and participate in that in any form or fashion. They are just evil, worthless monsters.
