Two senior dogs, in the twilight of their life, have been homeless since April when they were taken in at the Harbor Shelter in San Pedro, California because their elderly owner could no longer provide them with proper care. Today, Missy (8 years old) and Red (15 years old) are sitting in a lonely kennel run, waiting for someone to find them worthy of saving.

The following write-up has been provided by the ARF Harbor Shelter Facebook page:

Meet Missy! Missy was surrendered to the shelter when her elderly owner could no longer care for Missy and her 15 year old boyfriend Red (A1691530), though they are no longer kenneled together. Missy is on Medical Alert because, per shelter notes “Difficulty getting around in hind end.” Missy is unsure of shelter life and a little shy, but she’s gentle and sweet, and easy on the leash. She takes treats like a lady, and she has a nice, calm energy. Missy appears to be weak in the hind quarters, and she likes to lay quietly at your feet. Missy would love a home with a nice soft bed and lots of love, please consider rescuing Missy.

Biography information for Red:

Meet Red! Red is a handsome senior gent who is a bit reserved, though he is friendly with those he knows. He was surrendered to the shelter with his lady friend Missy (A1113384) because their family could no longer care for them. Red has an old skin condition, Missy is Medical Alerted due to a weak hind end; and they are no longer kenneled together. Red’s hobbies include walking around, taking treats and watching the clouds roll by, and he’d love to have a soft bed to call his own. Please consider rescuing or adopting Red.

These old-timers should be enjoying their last years of life in a real home, with someone who loves them. Please take a moment to network their adoption information and help them find a family. Thank you.

  1. PLEASE help these two seniors – they need to be rescued together – they did nothing to deserve this strange scary environment and be separated – there must be a senior rescue group who can come through for them. They deserve to spend their golden years together in a safe loving home.
