Meet Sadie; she’s 13-years-old and just shivers in fear as she hopes her family will show up at the South Los Angeles Animal Shelter and scoop her up into their arms. Chances are Sadie has been tossed away to a shelter because she’s too old. When a senior arrives at the shelter as a “stray” does it not make one wonder what really happened? After all, when was the last time anyone saw a senior jump the fence or scamper quickly out the door? Shelter volunteer Joy Freiberg shares the little one’s tragic plight:

“I feel so bad for these little guys; it’s such a scary place. I wish there was a way to make it less scary, BUT I also wish people wouldn’t throw away an animal because it’s not a puppy anymore…It’s comparable to your 90-year-old grandparents making a run for it. Anyway, Sadie, my little lady, deserves a warm, safe home and a second chance. She is spayed and ready to go home.”

Click here for Sadie’s Pet Harbor adoption listing: “I am a spayed female, white and cream Poodle – Miniature and Maltese. The shelter thinks I am about 13 years old. I weigh approximately 15 pounds. I have been at the shelter since Oct 25, 2017. For more information about this animal, call the Los Angeles Animal Services – South Los Angeles Shelter at (888) 452-7381. Ask for information about animal ID number A1737650.

  1. OMG: my instinct is to snuggle her and reassure her the world is “OK”…..

I just don’t understand how anyone could abandon a precious treasure like Sadie….

I would give everything to snuggle my beloved treasure MacKitty (who passed away @ 14.5, waaaaaaay too soon from liver cancer)……

There are special places in Hell reserved for Sadie’s former so called family for their cruelty…….

I hope Sadie finds a new furever home ASAP…… If someone is coming to the SF Bay Area, she is welcome here…..

  2. I have often wondered how a beloved pet can be “too old”. It would seem to me someone who loves their dog would want them to live as long as possible and continue to be their faithful companion. So Sadie is a “stray” if she was loved someone would be moving heaven and earth to find her. Sharing in hopes that someone will take in this precious girl and give her the love she deserves in her last years.

  3. PLEASE some kind caring person step up and adopt Sadie – You will never regret it – and will have unconditional love – whoever decided she was nothing more than a piece of machinery that you throw out when done with – damn you – I hope when these miserable excuses for humans get old their family sticks them in some 3rd rate nursing home and lets them rot away – no wonder I hate people – this is a prime example why.
