Rocky: When all he has left before he is euthanized is this toy

Rocky is scheduled to die at the Manhattan facility of Animal Care Centers of NYC on Thursday afternoon. He entered the shelter system just five days ago, and this is his second time on “death row.” Sadly, if no one steps up for Rocky, he will not see another sunset.

Just two years old and able to be adopted by someone from the general public, volunteers sing his praises.

“Rocky is an eager stout and short chap who bolts like a rocket out of his kennel. He is quite cute I must say, well made, muscular without being over the top and is so excited to show what he can do with balls and toys. He jumps and runs after a tennis ball, does head shots and most often catches.”

But Rocky isn’t just all about playing; this bundle of cuteness is also quite intelligent:

“He likes to rest on the ground and savor a teddy bear given as a present to him by another volunteer. He can sit on command for treats, jumps on the bench next to me and lets me pet him without any problem. He very much enjoys the scratching of his back and neck.

Perhaps some positive training techniques can spin this boy’s manners into perfection?

“Rocky pulls on the leash, and does his business on the way. He pulls toward and barks quite a bit when he sees another dog, male or female. Who knows, he may never have met many of his own kind? Rocky is intense about what ever he wants and does. He most likely will need some general curbing to make a gentleman out of him, but he has lots of elements that make him a good dog and a suitable candidate for obedience training. Come and meet our Rocky at the Manhattan Care Center. He surely would love to be home for the holidays.”

A Facebook page with more information is available here. Rocky suffers from an upper respiratory infection and will need further medical treatment. He’s a dog with a story, but he can’t tell us about his past. Tragically, after today, Rocky will not have a future.

Share this boy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives, and this dog only has a few hours left to find a home.  He can be reserved directly online, till noon, by someone genuinely wanting to adopt, who can personally get to the shelter by 6 p.m. Friday to collect him……( https://newhope.shelterbuddy.com/ ) …………

  1. PLEASE!!! Some kind person step up and save Rocky – This hell hole does not know the meaning of ‘care’ – they kill dogs/cats daily with no concern as to whether they are healthy, young, totally adoptable – it makes no difference to this death camp – Rocky is young and would be a great companion for anyone. He deserves a safe loving home, not death. PLEASE SAVE ROCKY!!
