A rescue dog, adopted from the Taunton Animal Control, is recovering from injuries he sustained after a man attacked him with a machete. According to the Taunton Police Department, the pit bull was attacked on Monday night.

In a release, the Department recounted what happened:

Department received multiple 911 calls stating that a man was attacking a dog with a machete in the area of 21 Church Street. When officers arrived they observed a group of people tending to a dog laying on the ground bleeding. The dog received two large lacerations, one laceration to the neck area and the other in the back just under the neck in the spine area.

Animal control officers recognized the five-year-old dog named “King,” who had been adopted from the shelter. Officers transported the injured dog to the Bridgewater Animal Hospital for treatment. King is now in the custody of the Taunton Animal Control.

According to the release, a female victim was also stabbed when she attempted to intervene on the dog’s behalf. The woman was able to walk to the emergency room for care before the police arrived. Officers responded to the Morton Hospital to speak with the victim, but she was “uncooperative.”

The preliminary investigation indicates that all of the parties involved knew each other. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

  1. So was the POS that attacked the dog the dog’s owner? Was it his significant other who tried to save the dog and injured and why should she be “uncooperative”? I hope and pray the dog will be alright and finds a loving home!

    • On the Taunton Police Dept. face book someone commented that the dog belonged to the suspect’s brother and the woman that intervened was the girlfriend of the dog’s owner.

  2. Who uses a machete and why did this “thing” attack these people and dog? They obviously knew each other and now she won’t talk. Machete is a weapon of choice by those here illegally, sorry but very true (American thugs use regular switchblades or guns). These should be a jail on an island and drop all these types of criminals on and let them deal with each other.

  3. Until these animals and I’m calling the people who hurt these animals….because that is what they are…..they are despicable and until they are put away for the time they deservee…..this will never stop….courts have got to start sending these these animal abusers away for a long time they will never stop……if they aren’t afraid of the punishment why quit……animals are loving and to be treated as though they are no value is totally unacceptable. States have got to push legislation that animals are to be valued and when they are abused appropriate punishment is given. This has got to end.

    • Deborah I never call these vicious abusers animals because it’s an insult to all animals in the animal kingdom! LOL Animals are better than these pure evil monsters who abuse and kill animals. Animals are in a class far above these waste of human flesh who cruise thru life hurting animals, these despicable abusing jerks have no morals,no values,no character,no ethics and do not deserve to breath air! And u are right on the money…..until there is harsh punishment imposed this depraved crime will continue to grow. I don’t get it…..animal cruelty is a violent CRIME but yet when this LAW is broken there are no consequences for it so of course it will be repeated because there is no deterrent via of serious punishment. SMH

  4. WTF!!!! I say the attacker and his”significant other” deserve one another, but the dog deserves so much better than these two jerks! I hope this poor dog makes a speedy recovery and is adopted into a safe and loving home! The authorities needs to arrest this vicious, violent and deprave machete wielding asshole immediately! Bet he would of took that machete to a child too if there was one present while this was going on! SICKENING

  5. Fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and whack jobs around every corner. Read the signs. Time to make peace in our lives. To those that choose to mangle and maim innocent animals, God’s creatures, be ready to face some serious “vengence”.

  6. This ‘unnamed’ perpetrator is a HUGE danger to both animals and humans and should be locked up for a long long time – his actions proved what a vile piece human waste he is and I hope that the judge in this case has a backbone and puts him exactly where he belongs – in prison where he has most likely a repeat visitor.

  7. Release the pos’s name so an animal lover can take a machete to his repulsive head. Kudos to the woman for trying to intervene on behalf of King. Get well King!
