This week, all eyes have been on a life-or-death situation which was taking place at a flooded shelter in Hankamer, Texas. The facility, which held dogs and cats with the Tall Tails Animal Rescue, was flooded after water from a nearby dam was released on Sunday.
Multiple articles about the situation were published on the Pet Rescue Report – one in particular caused a great deal of turmoil from people who read an update from the local sheriff, who claimed that all of the dogs and cats had been removed from the property. The sheriff’s claim was not not in line with the information released by Tall Tails Animal Rescue partner, Dallas DogRRR – Rescue.Rehab.Reform.
On Wednesday morning, Dallas Dogs RRR addressed the confusion, and alleged lies by the sheriff:
We wanted to address some ludicrous allegations that were made last night by the Sheriff (who lied several times saying they got all of the dogs to glorify his department when at that point they most certainly had not). This is what we have come to in a time of a mass destruction, especially when this was the worst moment of people’s lives? Your post is disgraceful not to mention bordering defamation of character- they lost EVERYTHING.
The rescue agency added:
It’s concerning that a sheriff’s department would block and delete people’s comments because he doesn’t agree with them. You are despicable and clearly incapable of telling the truth and admitting when you’re wrong or make a mistake. Case in point, yesterday when you claimed that all of the animals were rescued after making ONE trip and refusing to take anymore. Although I appreciate you finally getting there to get to the dogs the next day it’s too little too late.”Sheriff” you got a lot of gall.
Every animal was finally saved from the flooded shelter facility on Tuesday evening – read more about the rescue at this link.
Help is still needed to care for all of these animals – the following information is from the rescue agency for anyone who is able to lend a hand.
