Could there be anything sadder than to hear a surrendered senior pooch cry out softly in loneliness? It is unknown why Gully was abandoned by his family, but the very adoptable seven-year-old pooch has no idea why he is alone at the Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services. What did Gully do wrong?

Cristhel Cecilia went into work on the day after Christmas to catch up on paperwork. The shelter was closed and very quiet; that is except for Gully’s plea for help:

“…it was quiet except for a low cry I kept hearing,” wrote Cristhel. “Please ignore my voice, but please do listen to adoptable Gully, who has lost all – his human, his home and at his estimated 7 years old, now sits in a shelter very confused. Please I bet you have a plan for your pets in case something happens to you; it’s the fair thing to do.”

If you can, consider fostering or even better adopting this sweet boy so he can mourn his loss in a home and/or live his senior years in a home. Interested foster or adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter located at 2020 Forest Street in Jacksonville, Florida.

Many thanks for all of the volunteers who clean and stuff Kongs to help the dogs deal with their loneliness and boredom. Follow Gully’s Facebook page here.

To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your having your favorites among those to “see first.
