An 11-week-old puppy, with two broken legs, was abandoned in the foyer of the North Shore shelter of the Animal Rescue League/Western Pennsylvania Humane Shelter on Tuesday morning, reported the organization on their Facebook page. The puppy was discovered by a clinic client and immediately taken to the ARL/WPHS clinic to be assessed by a veterinarian.

The Yorksire terrier puppy, dubbed Laney, has been transferred to Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center (PVSEC). It is suspected the puppy has two broken legs and a slow heart rate attributed to having been sedated before being abandoned at ARL/WPHS. Laney is scheduled for surgery Wednesday on both of her legs.

“This puppy’s health and safety is our top concern now that she is in our care. We ask the community for their support and to have Laney in their thoughts as she goes through a tough next few of days,” said Dan Rossi, Chief Executive Officer of the ARL/WPHS.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the shelter at 412.321.4625. Donations to help Laney and animals cared for by ARL/WPHS can be made by clicking here.

  1. Tobad we can’t break the legs of the person that did this to this poor baby. I hope the worst Karma to pay a visit real soon.

  2. Why? What was the point? This tiny little puppy the fact that the thing that did this couldn’t stand looking at pure innocence! Humans have a problem dealing with purity! This puppy shines from within! The thing that tried to put that light out apparently had a change of heart because it drugged the puppy to keep it quiet but took the puppy where the little one would be helped! It doesn’t absolve the thing of what it did!

    • “The thing” probably thought IT had good intentions, however, something tells me that this pup was abused. Perhaps whoever dropped it off was getting it away from the abuser and was too embarrassed to confront the staff. Unfortunately we will never know the true and full story.

  3. Heartless Piece of Shits! What the hell is going on with people nowadays?! I’m dumbfounded by all the senseless acts of cruelty towards animals and people.

  4. It’s impossible to understand how humans can be so cruel to such sweet innocent animals. I have lost faith in the human race. The only good beings on this planet are animals.
