A three-month-old puppy was abandoned in a Las Vegas airport bathroom this weekend along with a heartbreaking note from her owner. The miniature Chihuahua was left beside a heartbreaking note telling a frightening story of domestic violence and the puppy owner’s plight to escape from her abusive partner.

According to News3LV, the handwritten note read:

“Hi! I’m Chewy! My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford me to get on the flight. She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart but she has NO other option. My 3e-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head. he probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much – please love and take care of him.”

A Good Samaritan found Chewy, and the pup has since been turned over to Connor & Millie’s Dog Rescue where he is reported to be doing better.

“This one really got to me,” stated Darlene Blair of the rescue organization. “You could tell by the way the note was written that the woman was in dire stress and she didn’t want to give him up and she couldn’t take him with her.”

On Sunday morning the rescue group thanked everyone for their attention, but are asking interested families to check out the other dogs with stories just as sad as Chewy’s:

“There has been tremendous interest in little Chewy !!!  We are compiling all the interest forms and will be going through them all. CMDR would like to say Thank you for all the offers of a loving home.

However, there is but 1 Chewy and he can go but to 1 home.

Please consider the hundreds if not thousands of “Chewys” loaded with love that are desperately seeking homes in shelters which are at max capacity, rescues are full! Please consider adopting another wonderful companion in his honor !

They too were a Chewy : they’ve lost their home through no fault of their own. Life is tenuous in a shelter, lonely and the days seem endless in a cage. It’s the 4 th of July. The day the single worst day for shelter animals for lost or surrendered.

Not everyone can have Chewy himself but they sure can save another just like him and gift that furbaby a life !”

Be a hero and adopt your new best friend. Do it for Chewy!

No further information has been released concerning the dog’s owner. We hope she is able  to pull her life together. Still it is illegal to abandon a pet. What she should have done is the hand the puppy over to airport personnel. Luckily Chewy was rescued safely; what could have happened to this puppy is frightening.
