Update: Pulled by a rescue organization!
A playful senior dog, eight years young, is labeled “at risk” as of today, December 28. Xenon has quickly endeared herself with volunteers at the New York Animal Care Center in Manhattan.
A volunteer described this homeless senior:
Easy and gentle, she’s happy for the attention, happy to enjoy some yummy treats and some petting.
Xenon’s tail wags as we walk, and she checks out her new surroundings. Off leash, she loved to play tug, got the zoomies with some toys, and loved playing ball. She’ll jump for it, but closes her eyes, and I laugh. How is she going to catch the ball with her eyes closed? I picture a little leaguer with a baseball glove closing his/her eyes as the ball nears! Xenon is at that absolutely perfect age, happy with some play time, gentle walks, good food, nice naps, and lots of love. Gentle and sweet are the operative words here, and we’d of course like to add, ‘much loved’. She’s a middle aged sweetheart with so much love to give to her new family.
Xenon found herself at the animal shelter after she was found tied up in a park…whether it was by her former owner or someone else, nobody will probably ever know. All that is currently known is that this pretty senior gal is in need of an adopter (or reputable rescue agency) to save her. Please share Xenon’s information to help her find the help that she so desperately needs.

I wonder if New York practices ANY education regarding spaying, neutering irresponsible breeding and commitment to your animal family. I seems like all they do is kill!
THAT IS all they do – these dogs (especially anything that resembles a pit bull) is given a lousy 18 hours and then euthanized. This hell hole has no right to use the word ‘care’ because they give none. If it weren’t for the volunteers these dogs would never be posted for rescue or adoption. This is New York City which found the money to renovate the waiting room BUT does nothing to help the animals stuck there. This place is pathetic.
New York City and the state is one LARGE ROTTEN APPLE ( with exception of Dogs Rock New York). when it comes to really attempting to help homeless and helpless animals. It is sad that places like the above shelter. put it out one day the dog is a risk and more times that Not the poor animal has hardly had a chance at finding a home, and they are euthanized!!!
I live in NY state, not NY city and our area has a wonderful SPCA in Erie County and the Niagara County SPCA is NO Kill. This hell hole is NYCACC which is run by a ruthless bitch named Risa Weinstock who is a lawyer and proves daily she is no advocate for animals. Please don’t bunch us in with her and her murdering crew.

I checked the rescue’s page. I don’t have confirmation but someone commented there that she was adopted. The link in the article goes to an error page, so we can only hope.
