On Friday, a story began circulating widely on social media about a heroic pit bull who rushed out of his own home, through a dog door, over the fence in his yard and to the home of neighbors who were being attacked by violent home intruders in Miami, Florida.
The story, published by the Miami Gazette, has every element of a true feel-good hero story – a dog rushes to save a family who has been tied up and injured by three violent men. The rub, however, is that the story is entirely false.
Everyone who is sharing this amazing story, about six-year-old “Brisco,” a therapy dog, has missed the Miami Gazette’s disclaimer, which reads:
The Miami Gazette is an entertainment and satire web publication. We simply aim to provide an outlet for our writers and contributors to develop creative, outrageous, and 100% fictional, tall-tales that our audience can enjoy reading and sharing with friends. All news articles contained within The Miami Gazette are fictional and presumably satirical news.
Who doesn’t love a great dog saves person story? But it should at least be based on fact…there are great dogs out there doing amazing things, in real life.

At least this fake story shows what great dogs pit bulls really are.
Yes, until the pit bull uses the doggy door next to go after and try to kill a neighbor’s plumber or cable guy with their threatening tools.
They are not great dogs. that’s why lovers have to make up BS to try to counteract all the real horror pit bulls bring to the news.
Did you leave your brain somewhere, Nancy? You’re not making any sense.
Now it’s ok to make up “Fake News” about hero dogs! Good grief!
I don’t find it entertainment when there are real dogs who have rescued and heartbreaking news that dogs need to be rescued!!!! How is this called entertainment news????
I agree!
What is so entertaining about a fake story? If anything it causes me to become angry since none of it is true.

Here is some insight for the ignorant people that have probably never known a pitbull (I’ve owned 5 and they have all been wonderful and non-vicious with kids, neighbors, and other dogs). True stories and some stats….

You know… for those of you who do like the truth instead of making false accusations and judgements out of thin air (what I like to call DUMBASSES).
Here’s some more insight. These events happen daily. Google “pit bull attack” for current new reports in newspapers and TV. With their genetic inheritance (Google “pit bull history”), pit bulls are a crap shoot as pets. A modest chance of a huge disaster. You got lucky (so far).
