A physically abused dog named “Sheana,” is desperate for a consistent, committed, and loving home. The five-and-a-half-year-old boxer mix is already house and crate trained, and she is said to be good with other large-breed dogs.

Less than a week ago, information about Sheana’s sad situation was posted to social media:

⚠️11 times Sheana has been bounced around from shelter, rescues, adopters, training facilities and now back to our shelter! (that was not a typo, 11 TIMES) This dog is DESPERATE for a home! ⚠️

Adding:

We are calling out for an ADOPTER. We are hoping Sheana can find her forever home. We no longer want to see this poor dog bounced around. She is our 2nd LONGEST resident!

Sheana’s difficult past has left her leery of strangers (especially men), but she “blossoms” into a lovable, cuddly dog after she has relaxed enough to trust. Sheana would thrive in an adult-only home (which is quiet) where she will be allowed to relax and feel safe.

  1. When I adopted my Suki, I was her third adopter in as many months. While a dog may not be the perfect fit for a family, they deserve time to adjust and settle in. Suki had separation anxiety after that, and it took us months and months to get her to finally realize she was here to stay. I can’t even imagine a dog being returned ELEVEN times! What a beautiful dog, too!

  2. She is gorgeous. She is sweet. She is loving. She is scared BECAUSE of abuse she must have had. Surely someone can help her overcome this fear. She is worth it. Look at the love she wants to give.

  3. This poor dog has been bounced around way too much – her past abuse is most likely the cause of certain unfit humans to keep her – all she needs is time and PATIENCE – PLEASE some caring adult step up for Sheana – she has been put through hell and will become a loving sweet dog if given a fair chance. She deserves a safe caring home.

  4. There is something wrong with what ever idiots have owned, this pup!!! How sad is that, I just don’t understand why from the beginning of his adoption or Rescue that the shelter or whoever did not do a complete check on these people. This is unacceptable. Sending prayers for his life and freedom and a good loving home.

  5. 11 times? She must be an extremely needy dog. Sharing.I had to PTS my second dog “Prima” a Lhasa Apso on October 24th due to major health issues. She was 14 yrs old and I am very distraught.

    • My condolences on your loss. We lost our precious little treasure MacKitty in July (@ 14.5 years old due to liver cancer)…… we had rescued both him & his brother (who passed away when he was 12 years old) when both were 7 weeks old balls of fluff…… it’s absolutely heartbreaking to have that final goodbye (& no one is ever ready for that final goodbye, ever)……
It’s been 4 months and we still miss our precious little treasure……
I would give anything to have had more time with our precious little treasure……

      • Thank you Bunny Peters. I’m sorry for your loss as well. I’ve been an owner of both cats and dogs for many years……It is always hard for that final goodbye.

    • I’m sad that you had to say good bye to your sweet Prima.. We are so fortunate to have such love and give them a wonderful life.. yet always so hard to say goodbye.. It’s been almost a year since we had to do the same with our ol’ boy Chopper.. We are soon to celebrate his life again.. as the 1 year anniversary is soon here.. Prayers for you linda.. Xo

  6. Has no one questioned a shelter that would adopt out a dog 11 times. Who is making these adoption decisions? Why weren’t the families vetted? Obviously, this dog needs a special home, why weren’t special requirements put in place to ensure her a better chance of finding a forever home? Shelters are often times too pressed to adopt and just let the animals go to anyone who is interested. Nothing is checked out first. No follow up after the adoption. I know, I know…they are doing the best they can do, but more needs to be done to ensure the safety of these animals that are adopted out. I see ads on Craigs List for dogs and cats that were adopted that are now being sold or offered for free. I feel reasonably certain each adoption contract had a return clause, but these stupid people just pass the poor animal on without ever honoring the contract that was put in place for their safety.

  7. Maybe just maybe she doesn’t want a typical home. For what ever reason. She may be more comfortable in a shelter with dogs in need . Maybe she should be employed by the shelter as a house pet Mascotte maybe. Maybe her calling is to serve other shelter animals as they prepaid. For their new life. Maybe she wants to stay in this shelter because she made an accidental friendship with a worker their and is bonded to that person. Or maybe a she was part of a bonded pair who was separated at the shelter and longs gor thst friend also.
