What happened to a paralyzed puppy, discovered thrown away in a trash bag in a Brooklyn housing project dumpster, is currently under investigation by New York Police Department detectives. Few details have been shared, but when the photo of the young dog, dubbed Hope, was posted on the Facebook page of Kristina Sembler  on Thursday evening, animal advocates immediately became involved hoping to help with the tragic situation.

Along with the heartbreaking photo of Hope, came Kristina’s first observations:

“You can’t help but hate people sometimes, and this is one of those times. Tom was just informed of a dog thrown away with the garbage at the Housing Project in Brooklyn. (He was told the dog moved its head.)”

Hours later, an update followed:

“update as of 3:00 a.m.- Because it’s an animal cruelty case, dog went to the ASPCA to see their veterinarian and be documented. Police gave Thomas Colwell all the info he needs to track dog’s progress and make sure that she doesn’t go to AC&C. A seasoned rescuer is also involved and wants to pull Hope, she will also be in contact with the ASPCA to ensure that nothing bad happens to this puppy. Once we find out more information, I will update this status again. Let’s root for Hope the puppy, we all want her to find the love and happiness that she deserves.”

Sadly, Hope was originally reported to have been bloodied and unable to move except for her head. She remains in the care of the Harlem ASPCA.

“…Hope is getting medical treatment …. Hope will not be going to the ACC. We all want her to know and love and happiness; no more abuse and neglect for her,” Kristina posted early Friday morning.

This is a developing story, and we will update as more information is made available as how to help Hope.

  1. Find the sub-human who hurt this puppy and throw the sorry ass in prison, or better yet, take a bat and beat the crap out of the POS until the turd is paralyzed, and then throw the human trash in the dumpster with the rest of the garbage! I don’t know how anyone can hurt a defenseless puppy. I’m so happy Hope was not taken to the NYC kill shelter. Praying for Hope’s full recovery and adopted out to a forever loving family.

  2. Thank God that someone saw Hope move her head. I hope the POS who hurt her and threw her in the trash to suffer and die has the same happen to him/her. May they rot in Hell for what they did to Hope.

      • Sorry, I don’t understand HOW you expect people to read these stories of horrific animal abuse and respond politely – that is not going to happen. If you don’t want people’s outrage to reflect their anger then stop printing these stories of animal torture and abuse.

      • Penny we have seen much more foul language….I used it when I first joined Pet Rescue Report. “Piece of shit” is a lot calmer than most comments I’ve seen.

  3. Penny Elms, It is extremely hard to answer in language that is not vile. I say it to myself and i mean it. All of it. Those of us that use this language really mean it. To see something so cruelly treated, broken and in pain is too much to take. A baby, no less. OK actions speak louder than words. We must act when there is an abuse of innocents. Don’t criticize language, do something meaningful, like taking care of this POS. Help the puppy. It means more. A whole lot more.

  4. Thank God this little puppy was not sent to NYCACC where he would never have a chance to heal – they would have killed him in a heartbeat since this hell hole’s reputation for animal care is nonexistent – and may the bastard who abused this little guy get exactly what they deserve – a slow death in the gutter.

  5. Penney please keep us posted on Hope’s future..makes me wonder how many have been thrown away and not saved. I lived on a military base (1985)where cruel people threw away pups and kittens into the dumpster. Many were saved. Ex hubby and I adopted 1 pup and two kittens.

  7. THE USELESS POS THAT MOST LIKELY PARALYZED THIS PUPPY AND THREW HER AWAY NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THEM. READING ALL THIS HORRIFIC SHIT ABOUT ANIMAL ABUSE BOILS MY BLOOD IF THE MOTHERF^&KER WAS IN FRONT OF ME I WOULD PARALYZE THE SCUMBAGS AND THROW THEIR LIFELESS BODIES IN THE DUMPSTER. THIS IS COLD HEARTED COWARD SUBHUMANS THAT DON’T NEED TO BE ON THIS EARTH. MY LANGUAGE ON HERE IS HOW MUCH I HATE THESE ASSHOLES AND I DON’T WANT TO TONE DOWN THE LANGUAGE BECAUSE MY THOUGHTS ARE ONLY TO TORTURE THESE LOW LIFE USELESS POS. JAIL TIME ISN’T ENOUGH WHAT THEY DO TO ANIMALS SHOULD BE DONE TO THEM AND I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW I DON’T HAVE NO HEART FOR ANIMAL ABUSERS ALL I WANT TO SEE THEM ROT SLOWLY WITH CANCER AND DIE. I SAY MY THOUGHTS ANYWAY I WANT ON THIS SITE BECAUSE OF THE HATRED I HAVE FOR ANIMAL ABUSERS.
