Owners, ‘don’t be alarmed’ about dog on the roof

Most dogs have their favorite spot in the house…their bed, in front of the fireplace, or maybe on the couch, but a dog in Austin, Texas, is getting quite a bit of attention because his favorite place is on the roof of his home. According to ABC News, Huckleberry, aka “Huck,” loves to hang out on the roof of his house and his family wants everyone to know that they are aware of where he is and they have told those who are concerned that they shouldn’t “be alarmed.”

Huck belongs to Allie Burnitt and Justin Lindenmuth – the couple has had to put a sign on their door about Huck’s antics because so many people knock on the door to let them know that there is a dog on the roof. They don’t mind if people take a photo of their golden retriever and even encourage it – asking that images be “shared with the world” with the hashtag #hucktheroofdog.

Huck has his own Instagram account (Huck the roof dog, of course!) with nearly 8000 followers.

The burning question is how in the heck does Huck get up on the roof?! Well, the roofline is low to the ground in the backyard, so Huck figured out how to hop up and enjoy the view from his lofty perch. His owners have reassured everyone that he is only let outside when they are home.

I agree, what if some punk idiot decides Huck is good for target practice? Too many jerks out there with guns who would consider him a target – get him down before something happens – Huck is not safe up there.

I suppose as long as he knows enough not to jump off of the roof he will be ok. But I don’t like to think what could happen if he does.
