Dog was so badly neglected that she smelled like death

Owner surrendered dog, so badly neglected, she smelled like death

On Wednesday, a Texas-based rescue organization introduced a horribly neglected dog to its Facebook followers. The dog, “Venus,” is among the worst cases of neglect that Triumphant Tails, Inc., has ever seen.

Amazingly, Venus, a German shepherd, was surrendered in this pitiful state of health – the rescue group explained the neglectful situation that Venus used to exist in:

With several people residing in the home, Venus lived alone outdoors. The people who lived there couldn’t be bothered to give her food, water, or medical care for the severe case of demodectic mange that she is suffering from. The lack of treatment, over an extended period of time, has led to cracks in her skin that ooze blood. With that, of course, comes a painful secondary skin infection. The animal control officers immediately went to work pulling maggots out of her skin – and called upon Triumphant Tails to get her the medical care that she required.

17203101_1410478005691563_1146367047980624053_nVenus was in such poor state of health at the time of her surrender that she “smelled like death.” Fortunately, thanks to premium food, medicated baths and much-needed veterinary care, Venus is no longer suffering. Amazingly, despite the long-term neglect which she endured, she has maintained a loving (and forgiving) personality.

The rescue group wrote:

She is a happy, playful, affectionate dog whose need for human companionship overpowers all else in her life. She is one of the most outwardly appreciative dogs for having us in her lives as my own beloved Solitaire is. They are very much two-of-a-kind in that regard, my shadows, my very best friends.

Saving dogs like Venus is expensive – but without the help of rescue groups like Triumphant Tails, dogs like Venus would not be given a second chance at a real life. If you are interested in helping support Venus’ ongoing veterinary expenses, the rescue group has provided information about how to donate.

All this animal abuse can possibly be eliminated if the abusers were tortured and put to death. Very sick of how animals are treated by inhuman bastards who should be dead at the time they are abusing the animal. This makes my blood boil so much if these POS were in front of me I would have done everything possible to make sure they never had a normal lifestyle. Animals need the same rights as humans and more. Animal abusers are nothing but low life cowards and controlling MotherF$@*+ers.

Well said. The laws must be stronger than other criminal cases. We humans are put on this earth to cherish and care for all furbabies. I would love 5 mins with all the POS to deliver enough to them so they got something to forever remember me and all the other animal lovers by.

I agree with you 100% – as far as I am concerned animal abusers are prime candidates for the wood chipper –

people that do this have something wrong with their empathy part of their brain and it worries me that the law and judges don’t take it seriously.. there are people that don’t like animals but would still stand up for one if it’s being abused
punishment should fit the crime .. do what they did to the animal to them that’s the only way people like this will understand what they actually did wrong and if they don’t then you know there’s really something seriously wrong in those people’s heads and those are the people that need to be watched for the safety of the rest of us ..or future children or another living thing these people might be responsible for..
