Five-pound Kimmie is about as cute as anyone can imagine, yet her owner decided to surrender the dog to an Alabama animal shelter asking the staff to euthanize her due to moving and the dog  could no longer eat her food. Clearly the seven-year-old poodle, who was both adorable and friendly, had a lot of life yet to live. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC instantly agreed and made arrangements to transport Kimmie to New York for her veterinarian workup and treatment.

“Can you imagine?! She looks pretty lively to us, certainly not suffering or ready to die,” stated Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of the organization.  The only issue  seems to be her teeth from a lifetime of canned food, so she’ll go to our vet first to get checked out, and then Kimmie is ready to go home.”

On Friday, Kimmie arrived in New York City and was whisked off to the veterinary specialists who literally gasped when they opened the tiny dog’s mouth. Her gums are severely infected, her teeth are rotten and so she has been scheduled for surgery on Monday morning. After some healing, this friendly lap dog, who gets along with everyone as well as other dogs, will be ready to move on to her new life. Kimmie didn’t want to die, and all 4.8 pounds of her have lots of living to do.

  1. I have one that came after turn in because of rotting mouth. B Fly is also 5 pounds and a chi. She is priceless. I couldn’t adore her more. Sara Burnhart all the time, Keeps me laughing. Chases squirrels and wants to chase raccoons. Insists on eating from my 70 pound dogs dish at the same time as my big dog, loved me to pieces the minute she walked in the door. Sensitive and cuddly under the covers. Everyone wants her now. She stays till i go. Gives me so much joy. She makes the whole house happy. I feel so blessed to have her as i do all my other dogs. Dogs ask so little and give so much.

    • More on B-Fly (Butterfly). She has 4 canines is all. A favorite is the raw organic carrots i give as cookies to my dogs. A 10 pound pak of organic carrots at Costco is so easy and the dogs love them. All my dogs missed the carrots as the Bunny Love organic carrots that were offered before tasted like cardboard. Now back on them and even B Fly carts them ad chews till she gets a little piece at a time. Brand name now Cal-O Organics. Sweet and crunchy–Great dog cookie as well as for me.

  2. Small wonder I prefer my pets to humans, given the amount of vermin walking around in human form these days.

Small breeds like this little poodle frequently have problems with their teeth. The canned food was only going to speed it up. Sounds like a terrific little dog, though, and I have no doubt they’ll find a great home for him without any trouble.

  3. What a POS owner…….. doesn’t take care of a simple problem early on, ignores his furbaby (who probably was in pain) and then dumps her the minute it becomes clear that vet expenses are involved…….

SMH: does this POS also ignore home, car maintenance and repairs??? I would hate to be anywhere near these POS’s……..

Glad this little treasure was rescued and is getting the help she needs…… Hope she finds a new furever home and family where she will be a beloved and treasured family member…….

  4. That’s terrible!!! Thank goodness Rescue Dogs stepped up to help. What a little cutie!!! I’m sure she’ll find the loving home she deserves. And to the POS owner who turned her in, KARMA she’s better off without you. And please never own another animal.

  5. So why were her teeth allowed to rot? When I think of the money I have spent on teeth cleaning for mine I can only suppose they were too cheap to deal with it or even provide teeth cleaning chews! So the answer is put her to sleep at 7 years old? How I hate people, the worst thing is, they will go get another dog and do the same thing all over again!

  6. And WHOSE fault is it that Kimmie’s teeth and gums were in such bad shape??? The idiot owner’s the guilty one – I swear people are such dumbasses and they keep on proving it daily – this one is a prime example of a human who sits on their brains. Thank God Rescue Dogs Rock came through once again. Too bad this piss poor example of a human can’t be euthanized.

  7. Once again….THANK YOU RESCUE DOGS ROCK NYC for stepping up and helping Kimmie and all the suffering dogs that u help! Such a wonderful and amazing rescue organization!
